Hi, Just going through this tutorial, great by the way, but it looks like Edit optimze is not supported under R23, cannot get the same results as you do, is there a work-around at all?

The material glow will not work if it's being blocked by any other object. This includes transparent things like the glass.

Sorry another question - I have got to the section where you have made the bolt and you are using dynamics to get it to hang over the bolt, I can get the spline to drop but whatever I set the points on the sline to be I cannot get it to stay on the bolt. I have over 1000 points on the spline now and it still falls off, is there another way to do this as cannot proceed until sorted.

Glad you like the tutorial. Try to disable "Default Light" in the options of the render settings. If this does not help, please upload your scene somewhere and I will have a look at it.

That's strange. In R19 it should work without a problem. It even works in R21. Did you install it correctly in your script folder?

@@nikomedia Hey there Niko. I think I did install it correctly, do you have any tutorials explaining this process?. It lets me optimize splines, but not sweeps or connections. so I had to group them and connect + delete objects to be able to correctly continue your tutorial. When I try to optimize the sweep as you did the icon just gets grey and not active, it is strange but it is what happens. p.s. I can't optimize objects as well :(

Of course you can do it manually and I explain it in almost every tutorial I do. To optimize, just select your object in the object manager, go in point mode, then select every, or no point, right click in the viewport and click on "optimize", that's it. But the script should work. Did you install it correctly? The "edit-optimize" folder has to go under... C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D (Your Version)\library\scripts Then you will find it in Cinema under "Script - User Scripts".

Sorry, from 15:56 to 16:13 the dissolve part. Anyway i found, i mistake to hide the Light sweep :p thanks for your knowledge.

Have you optimized the object before you try to dissolve? If not try it. If this does not help, you can upload your project somewhere an I will have a closer look at it.

Edit-Optimize is a script, no plugin. The edit-optimize folder has to be copied to the following path (for Mac you have tot translate the path)... C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D Rxx\library\scripts Then the script appears under Scripts - User Scripts.

don't know if you figured out the glow situation... but object glow doesn't work inside transparent objects... you have to use just "glow" in render setting effects...
