Todays video is all about the Nikon 1 Series camera, the J5 model.
I give a few highlights of the camera as well as some still images and a few video clips taken with the camera mainly using the kit lens, 10-30mm F3.5-5.6 VR.
Although this is the basic kit lens, the images in good light are to my eyes acceptable, given the FT1 adapter and some decent primes from the F mount lens line up, I'm sure it could produce some amazing images from this "1 inch" sensor.
Thanks for watching.

Thanks, glad you liked the video. It's a pity that Nikon didn't develop the range more, would have been good if they had produced some decent lenses for the system but what they did produce are hard to come by here in NZ. Cheers.

I found a 1J1 not long ago at a thrift shop with a 10mm (27mm) and an 18.5mm (49mm) lens for next to nothing. Cool little camera and those little primes take beautiful images. I use it a lot more than I thought I would. The photos have a different look from a phone camera look that I quite like. I bought an adaptor to fit a bunch of old Pentax film era manual lenses I had laying around, making it a lot more flexible than a phone camera can be. A good and very entertaining review, thanks.

You're very lucky to have found them cheap, I've looked and looked here in NZ but all I find is the kit lenses which aren't very good. I'm pleased for you with your purchase, enjoy it. I've since sold both my J1 and J5 because of that fact, it's too expensive here in NZ to get better lenses for these cameras, I've seen some lenses overseas but still they end up more expensive than the camera itself. If I happen to see another one with a decent lens on it for cheap then I will be tempted again. Thanks for the sub and the comments, it really helps the channel grow. Cheers.

Greetings from Ukraine. Loved your review of Samsung. Don't stop, shoot more. By the way, small old digital cameras are very popular with us now, this is the fashion in Ukraine. That's how I found you. Also, everyone now wants to look at a photo of a face with a flare, because it gives an interesting effect. There are many old digital cameras. We will wait for reviews.

Thank you, I hope you all are doing well considering what's happening over there. I am trying to find some more older cameras for review as I like doing these type of videos, but some of these older cameras are fetching good money and I'm using my own money, not earning anything from KZbin or any sponsorship deals so It's not easy for me but I'm working on it. Thanks for creating this video in 2023! Someone is selling their barely used J5 to me for about 180 USD and I've been thinking about getting it anyway, so I could have something compact but slightly better than my Samsung Galaxy S21 FE for special occasions/traveling. Maybe I'll throw in the 18.5mm f/1.8 lens later on

Great little camera. With the 30-110 it fits in a jacket pocket. The lenses aren't built to last though. I've gone through 2 30-110s (it's usually the focus cable or the aperture gear). The 10-30 pd zooms are ok though.

I have this camera and it's fantastically well built. Solid. I have been carrying it around with me. The thing is I also have my Google pixel pro 6 with me too.. And it takes better pictures I also don't have to go through the faffle of trying to sync the j5 with phone which can be a hit and miss affair. The pixel also automatically uploads my imagery without me having to do anything. I also do find the 30mm kit lens a bit restricting.. and I don't have another lens now. I do also wish the j5 would go down to at least 100ASA but it doesn't. The Pixel goes down to 50ASA.

The best camera is the one you have with you and if you only carry your smartphone then you will always get some photos. Smartphones are good for casual snapshots but if you want higher quality photos for example, large canvas print for your wall then you really can't beat a proper camera with a larger sensor for better image quality. Cheers.
