I do not think it is a fair comparison, The G lens is mounted with an adapter on the Z camera that affects its performance, would of been better comparo if it was mounted on D850.

There is no quality loss using an F-mount lens on a Z-body with the FTZ adapter. Both the Z7 and the D850 have similar sensors. Moreover, it's impossible to test the Z lens on an F-mount Nikon, so this is the ONLY comparison that has an equal sensor comparison.

@@JasonOdellPhoto I disagree….the g lens was made and calibrated on DSLR…you cannot make that statement that just because it is the same sensor it is the same output. you need to test the g lens on dslr (d850) and the z lens on z7 and compare.

The entire purpose of this test was to see how the older lens (which many people already own) works on the new Z bodies as compared to the newly redesigned one. The entire POINT of the FTZ adapter was to allow F-mount lenses to be compatible with Z cameras. So if a photographer was thinking about upgrading to the Z lens but had access to the older one (perhaps at a significant discount or second-hand), they'd want to know how they'd stack up on a mirrorless body.
