Hallo Herr Johansson!

I’d love the 400mm f2.8. But a: it’s very very expensive and heavy and 2: I often like having a zoom to give more shooting options if I can’t move back and forward. This lens is very capable and it has an internal zoom which gives it bonus points as external zooms trigger my ocd.

Yes, it's heavy but in poor light it's fantastic. Then I like exactly how you say that you get bumped possibilities with a zoom. Especially when filming and the internal zoom with unchanged center of gravity is fantastic. 😀🙏😀🙏

I've been searching on KZbin for a few weeks now trying to look for a reason NOT to buy this 180-600 lens and I haven't found much if any negitives, pretty much everyone saying the same things about this lens it's sharp auto focus very good great contrast and the price is a bargin, the only negative mentioned is the weight but that's to be expected. So it's about time to open my wallet I guess. Goran, your photos are beautiful truely remarkable.

Hi Göran, Thank you for this video and congratulations for your superb photos and videos, it’s magnificent work. For the replacement of the foot collar, I saw that it is already referenced at Kirk (Replacement collar for Nikon Z 180-600 f5.6-6.3 VR with LS-2 lens support), it will arrive soon... .I have a Z 400 2.8 + TC but for certain trips where I will also do landscapes and visit cities, I prefer to take a not too expensive zoom lens if I leave it in my vehicle, it's more prudent... The tests I see are all good for this 180-600. I had a 200-500 in the old range and it was very versatile. Thanks for your return. Kind regards Georges

You are a real pro Sir! From what I'm seeing, this lens is so very good! At the price point, it is a real bargin. To compare this with Nikon's F 200-500 shows how technology has evolved? With a short twist of the wrist, you go from 180 to 600 easily

I bought the 180-600mm rather than the 600mm and the money I saved paid for half of the Z 800mm. Then I upgraded the 180-600 to the amazing 100-400mm S lens. With these 2 lenses that can both be put into a carry-on bag, covers the entire range of 100mm-1,600mm. (with TCs). The 100-400 has very close focusing and fits into the case for the 70-200 lens.

Cheers I love to see other people's photos. I would like to ask a personal request . I live in England and it's not always possible to travel to the countryside . I realised how here in the UK places are changing shops closing , some exchange owners . When we point our camera and hit the shoot button we have recorded a point in time . I hope that we can take a few photos to record those places and faces on our personal journeys History recorded can be a great gift to the future for everyone. So I as only you could pass on this short message. We can do something locally and record our time now for the future. We all enjoy looking at those golden oldies photos . So money helps of course but strange how those oldies still draw attention. So it will encourage those who don't get to travel to take interest in recording their local shops stores bus car house clothes. All are very soon a historic record worth padding on .thanks for your review already I can see my own 280-600 playing a part in history making 👍

Thank you for your video. I am pulling my hair out over trying to shoot with the Z 180-600 on our Z9. For whatever reason, my Histogram are fine at time I snap the photo. However, the Histograms shift to the right in Nikon NX Studio. After I move the slider to the right, I get the colors and photos that I saw in the EVF. I have not found any camera settings that may be affecting my photos. After I spoke to Nikon today, the technician told me to do a "Power Cycle". Do you have any recommendations? Thank you. JP

Hey, that doesn't sound too good. I have a hard time knowing what it is but I have turned off Active D-lighing in Phooto shooting menu. Then I have picture control to standard with constarst -1 Brightness -1 sharpening +2 clarity +1 mid-range sharpening +2. Picture control does not affect the raw file, but it appears on the display. It would be interesting if you responded.

@@Halmstadfoto - I have had my new Nikkor Z 180-600 for five days, but I only got to use it for two days because the birds flew off or it got too dark. Then, I spent the better part of those two days in chat rooms or on the phone with Nikon and Adobe. Nikon advised that I try a "power cycle". When that did not work, they recommended that I clean the contacts. Now, they want files that will take them at least two days to review. In the meantime, I want to return the lens if it is a dud (although I am willing to admit it could be user error). I shot with our Z7ii and Z9, Manual and Shutter priority, on a tripod for each camera, using my MC30 with the Z9, and I double / triple checked my camera settings, but the results remained poor. The Histogram looks good as does the image at time of shot, but the curves slider must be moved a good distance from the left to the right in NX Studio. Today, I took light meter readings of where the birds would land on the feeder. I switched the WB to Kevin 5620, set the shutter to 640, set the F-stop to 6.3 at 600mm, and ISO to 100. I removed the lens hood and purposely underexposed my shots by -1 EV. I still am not satisfied with the grain and desaturated colors. Dating back to 1975, I do not recall ever having an experience like this with my cameras and lenses. I borrowed a Tamron Z 150-500 from our local camera store before I purchased the 100-600. The Tamron worked immediately, without a "power cycle" or cleaning contacts. Do you have any recommendations? Is there a setting, perhaps, in the Z9 that I forgot to set?

I haven't edited them at all. 😂😂 Since I shoot in RAW, I take them into Photoshop and there I actually use the auto button. (actually really good nowadays) As it gives too much color for my taste, I reduce the color and saturation to between 0-4 depending on what I think. Then auto brightens the photo too much so I usually adjust it. After that I run the image in Topaz Denoice. Of course I crop the image first.

Hi Göran. I have this lens aswell. Also live in Sweden. (You can answer in Swedish if you want) I like your videos! I’m just curious on your opinion on the weather seal? I got this lens cause i thought it would be okay to use it in the rain. Before I had the 200-500mm and that one is not internalzoom as you know, so using in bad weather isn’t the best. But i really thought it would be okay with this. Until I asked Swedish Nikon support and they did not recommend even using this new 180-600mm in the rain.. What have you heard about the weather seal? Keep up this videos! Best regards Alfons
@Halmstadfoto Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Alfons for your kind comment 😀😀🙏🙏. It is the case that it is not weatherproof but a cheap lens. It's always in my photo bag.
