THANK YOU!!! I stumbled across your video this evening, and it has been a lifesaver! I just (FINALLY) got a new camera at work after 4-5 years of needing one, and we chose to upgrade to the D850 from a D3200 because of the insane amount of features, and the fact that it will serve our needs for years to come. The only problem is I haven't had a chance to learn as much as I'd like, and I have an awards ceremony to photograph tomorrow morning! I was feeling a bit apprehensive until watching your video. Now I feel prepared, and I don't worry that I'll make a fool of myself! I look forward to learning a lot more from you!

In your menu, go down to the pencil tab>f controls options>customize! Then you can pick which buttons to customize and what you want them to do!

The software seems to complicate things as aimed at pros and even complicates them as my elder brother, a canon guy, press journalist pro, over 40 years finds it complicated. Just the basic, cropping , sizing etc. Software seems aimed at pros with stock photography in mind. After all we great photographers who have learnt our skills over many years do not want to go back into the darkroom just yet, to get a descent printable pics. Simple, easy with any software with good results

I completely agree. Some of the tools the camera offers are definitely not used often which is why I skipped a good amount of them and covered the most used areas. They seem to have simplified quite a bit on the Mirrorless options, the Z series. The Z7 is very similar to what the D850 can put out but I find it much easier to use. It’s all up to the shooters preference though!

On the D850, I would suggest setting the max sensitivity to 3200 to help avoid noise in lower light circumstances. Let me know if you have any other questions!

superwoman321 great question! The star is regarding the JPEG files and will have a star if it’s compression priority is the quality of the photo vs without the star the compression priority is the file size itself. I would advise using Fine JPEG with the star.

Gran pregunta. Para Deportes, tenerlo como prioridad de enfoque puede tomar más tiempo para capturar la imagen, lo que resulta en perder la toma. Con Deportes, espere tomar cientos de fotos para ser feliz con algunas, ¡eso es absolutamente normal! Lo pondría en prioridad de disparo con el enfoque de zona establecido en AFC.

Antonio Lundy is your dial currently set on CH under the mode dial? If it is, go to your menu, go to the custom tab with the pencil and go down to change the CL settings to what you need. Hopefully this helps!

@@Shutterbug101 Thank you for the promptness. I did all you mentioned. Camera is set to CH, Custom Tab shows CL at 8fps and MAX continuous is set to 200 but still nothing. Its only shooting 3 fps

Antonio Lundy that seems very odd. I know in the Q spot on the dial it will be stuck at 3 FPS but if it’s turned to CL or CH it should be going much quicker. Is your battery fully charged? Do you have a high speed card with the U3 symbol on it? With digital cameras these days any little thing can make settings malfunction

@@Shutterbug101 Thank you for asking. Memory card does nor show U3. I have Sony XQD, R:440 mbs & W:400 mb/s with 128 GB. It Has a "G" on it. I will definitely fully charge battery overnight.

Depending on your settings for the time lapse, you will just listen to ensure it is taking a photo every so many seconds/minutes. Once you hear it click through a couple times, it just confirms it is in the process of the time lapse

Can you be more specific? Did you want to see it’s focusing ability? Or something different? Whether it has a lens/card won’t change what buttons,doors and menus are on the camera itself which was the purpose of the video.
