Great ! I had the L35 AF2 model that is quite similar but this model is still better. The lenses are the same.With such cameras, it is not easy to achieve bokeh but this can be achieved if you shoot when it is not sunny or in some shady space. When the camera measures that there is not enough light it will automatically release the flash, then you with your hand keep the flash pressed down, then the camera opens the f stop to the maximum and if you focus on something that is about a meter away your subject remains sharp and what is behind becomes blurry or in the bokeh!

Good video. I just picked one of these up for $5 at a thrift store. A question as I'm used to MF mechanical SLRs. How does the auto focus work? How do you use the sliding needle with the different objects in the viewfinder? How do you know if you're too close to your subject?
@Lobapixel3 жыл бұрын
I’m happy and jealous that you got it for $5!!! Congrats! ✨🙏. The focusing is literally the basic 2 people for portrait and mountain for landscape, it’s kind of just experimentation because you can sometimes do some close up shots and it’ll not be in focus sometimes! Big downside, but that’s the challenge when it comes to point and shoot cams 👍. It’s a lot of practice and failure because you won’t know until you see your shots lol

@Lobapixel5 жыл бұрын
I honestly think the 1000 iso version is just worth more and cost more because it’s more valuable because it’s harder to find, but in my opinion I don’t think you need it. I don’t think I’ve ever used it lol. I’ve only gone up to 800 iso! I still think the 400 iso version works great it just depends on what you shoot. Wondering if you will ever see this and sorry for the novice question (new to film) but I used a 36 exposure film roll on this camera (just bought it) and noticed I can’t go past 24 exposures, is this camera only capable of using 24 exposures or am I high? Thank you
@zoeyrenee8155 жыл бұрын
I have the Nikon teletouch 300 AF camera (35 mm) and im super beginner and was having issues with the camera and am trying to figure out how to use it. there is not alot of information on it in terms of how to insert its film, and how to use its features. its different than yours but was wondering if you know about this camera in terms of how to use it!
@Lobapixel5 жыл бұрын
Damn! Unfortunately I don’t know that much about that camera! Hopefully you didn’t spend too much on it 😳. But if it’s a basic point and shoot then the back should have some instructions on how to put the film inside once you open it with the lever! But play with it first before shooting film on it! Like try to open all the doors of the camera, the back, battery door, etc. test shoot it with out film if it lets you. If it doesn’t let you shoot it without film then you could try and use one roll of film to experiment with! That’s probably the best advice I can give because I don’t know that much about that camera! Also maybe look for older versions or a newer version of the camera to see if it has similarities! Maybe it’ll be easier to figure out like that too! Hope this helps 👍

@Lobapixel5 жыл бұрын
It’s a great camera to start of with for sure if you can get it at an amazing price! It goes from $80-$120 in great condition! If you’re starting off I wouldn’t want you to spend so much money, but instead go to local flea markets or garage sales and try to find random point and shoots to experiment with 👍. People in the comments section of this vid have gotten this cam for $2-$10 which is pure luck! If you find a cheap point and shoot before buying it I would go on KZbin to see if there are any videos on it to see what type of images you can possibly get! The nikonl35 is an amazing camera, but way overpriced in my opinion 🤷♂️. I really appreciate the love and feedback 💜🙏

Did you ever have issues with Autofocus in this camera? I developed my first roll on this and most of it was blurry, not sure if it's a hardware problem or not...
@Lobapixel4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it can be out of focus! But if every single shot you did came out blurry then it could be a hardware problem? Or maybe you we’re shooting at a very low film speed like 100 iso? But focus is not perfect on this camera sometimes it can be out of focus and it’ll focus on something behind the subject or even focus on the subject, but won’t be as sharp as it should too 👍
@ellenchang71164 жыл бұрын
@@Lobapixel gotcha, I was using an expired film so running it at 100 iso so hopefully that was the issue, thank you!
@Lobapixel4 жыл бұрын
100 iso is pretty low if you don’t have enough light, so naturally the camera would try to auto expose and choose the best settings and it will automatically bring down the shutter speed to a lower shutter causing it to be blurry 👍
@anttiheik6 жыл бұрын
Great review and overview! Hey do you know if there is an auto exposure (and auto focus) lock on the camera when you half press the shutter button? So that you could for example take a meter reading from the shadows and then recompose and fire the shutter.
@Lobapixel6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the love 🙏. I feel like this is something I’ve tried experimenting with and in the end result it just gave me a good exposure overall. I think it does work, but in the end it just gives you an image that’s not over or under exposed. I’ve tried focusing on the shadows before, half press and recompose my shot and I feel like it would’ve turned out the same even without doing all of that lol. I’m going to try it again the next time I shoot with it and see what comes up! Have you done it? 😊👍

Jordan Lobaton alright good to hear! I don't have this camera yet but I'm getting my first point and shoot so that I don't have to carry an external light meter everywhere with me as I do with my Canon FTb and Canonet QL-17 G-III. Great cameras but the FTb is all manual and the Canonet only has shutter priority auto mode so I haven't really used it. For everyday carry I just want something simpler to use so this could be a potential winner for me.
@Lobapixel6 жыл бұрын
The Canonet QL looks like such a fun camera to play with! I know it's shutter it super silent giving you the ability to become a stealthy ninja lmao. The nikon l35af is small, compact, silent, and just does what you need it to do! Which is take photos :)

What's the difference between the AF model vs the AD? The AD is significantly cheaper, but want to know which one is better?
@Lobapixel4 жыл бұрын
Honestly any of these two versions are really great if you can get them for a cheap price! They both are clean and easy to use cameras! But the only difference would be that the AD has a different back which give you the option to set a date! I feel like that’s the only main difference and also the iso for the AF can go up to 1000 and I think the AD goes up to 400 only. But whatever you can get your hands on will do just fine 👍

is there a way to shoot without the flash? like longer exposure?
@Lobapixel3 жыл бұрын
There might be a way, but it might be a little difficult lol. Camera needs to be on a tripod, you might have to cover the light meter, I would try one shot with the light meter covered and once with it uncovered. Then you might have to tape down the flash because it will pop up automatically because the camera reads that it needs more light to expose correctly 😂. A bit of a process, but this is what I would do 👍

How to rewind for this camera, my nikon l35af can’t rewind if there isn’t a film?

Really good camera. I sold off 5 really good condition ones. Then I managed to acquire 2 more back in my possession. I guess I'm meant to always have one in my camera bag. Yeah...it's simply too good not to be without one. It accompanies my Leica M3 everywhere I go.
@Lobapixel6 жыл бұрын
Teng Vang Damn you had 5? That’s crazy! You were the NikonL35AF king lol. It’s definitely a great light weight travel cam you can take anywhere with you 📸🎞. Nice combo with the m3 👍
@vangstr6 жыл бұрын
Lobapixel I was anal at hoarding cameras that’s how I managed to get the initial 5. Selling them off brought in good monetary returns but shortly experienced sellers remorse. Because it was truly special at producing beautiful BW images - quite unique to this camera. Hence I had to have it back in my camera bag. Now I keep one as a shelf queen and the other in my camera bag.

What’s up bro I have the same camera I used portra 400 and all my shots came out really blueish green. Have you experienced that before with the same film?
@Lobapixel5 жыл бұрын
I honestly never have! The only things I could think that might be wrong is thy the film could be expired? 🤔. OR! The way the film was processed, maybe somebody messed up on that 😳. Usually if it’s a camera issue shots would come out all black or all white from my past experiences 🤔
@raulceron87135 жыл бұрын
Lobapixel the film was definitely brand new and I guess it could be developing error considering I developed it lol.... I’ve looked up other possible reasons and I’m pretty sure it’s the way I’m scanning it. I’m using the lomography phone scanner. Essentially just a taking a picture with my phone of the film.

Thank you! I’m really glad that you learned something from it 🙏. So to get the photos onto my phone I use a website called thedarkroom.com 🎞. You make an account, send your film, they scan it for you, and then save it onto your phone! It’s really that simple 🤘🎞. Their Instagram is @thedarkroomlab 🎞. Hope this helps!

I just got mine and was testing the functions without film. There isn't any motor whirring/rewind sound when I test the rewind function sans film and the counter doesn't return to S unless I open the back cover. Is that what yours does too? (:
@Lobapixel5 жыл бұрын
It’ll only start working properly when film is put in and taken out 👍. But I know that you can shoot without film and with batteries the shutter count will move up. When you open the back it’ll go back to “S”. You can try and press the buttons on the bottom “1 and 2” but I don’t think it’ll fully rewind like it does when there’s film inside. Hope this helps! Try this out and let me know 👍

mine is like beyond hard to move (ISO) meter i can only move it from 400 to 1000 but cant get lower, what should I do?
@Lobapixel5 жыл бұрын
🤔. I know for a fact that it’s hard to move! Have you tried to really force it to 100? Because it almost feels like you’re going to break it, that’s how hard it is to move! Now I know there are two versions on this camera, the first one is iso 100-400 and the second version is 100-1000. It’s really hard to move, but if you feel like it’s stuck and not moving anywhere I would try to find someone who can fix it or try finding another on online. I hope this helps 😊👍

One more question bro, does this have a timer setting on it? It takes a while for the photo to actually snap
@Lobapixel4 жыл бұрын
Yes there’s a self timer that goes for about 10 sec! You might have it switched on by mistake, if it’s flashing red it’s because you might have it on the self timer if not then maybe put some new batteries in it 👍

Do you know what the difference is between a Nikon L35AF and a L35AD?
@Lobapixel3 жыл бұрын
The price is a big difference! But when it comes to the actual camera is just the hype I think! The AD is still awesome, honestly whatever you can get for cheap will be good enough! I believe the AD is a newer version and the AF is an older version!
