They’re already there, it’s up to the microphone manufacturers to make one. Canon, Nikon, and Fujifilm have already partnered with Tascam for their XLR adapter. Newer cameras from Canon and Fujifilm now have connection on the hotshoe to allow for digital audio. However, with the simplicity of the Wireless go and DJI’s new wireless mic, we might not see any of your wishes coming true soon.

Must say I'm quite pleased Voigtlander are starting to release some lenses for these. I believe the Z30's sensor is based on the old D500 but now back-lit, made by Towerjazz so capable of some stunning results. Needs an ultra-wide fast AF lens, Viltrox maybe?

7:05 About the the lens for vlogging Nikon had a 12-28mm DX wide-angle zoom lens on their road map for about a year now. My assumption is that lens will be released same time as the Z30 because this will be marketed as vlogging first content creator camera for all social medias. My hope is they will offer the standard zoom or the wide angle zoom in a kit and hopefully it will have vr as well be the go to vlogging set up for Nikon shooter's. So keep your ears open Nikon shooter's this mirrorless world is expanding for us.

Nikon now has a Z 12-28mm PZ lens for the apsc Nikon Z camera, so now its wide enough. Sigma has a 16mm F1.4 with Z mount now available that fits the Z30.

Nikon needs to bring out some more DX lenses, always been an issue for them with the cropped sensor cameras; think the 2 Z50 kit lenses are excellent for the money and I do use my 10.5mm fisheye with the adapter (MF only) but they really should bring out a native super-wide for DX Z (Z DX?) and perhaps a Z version of the F mount 35mm DX. Currently I find myself leaving all of my DX gear at home and using my ancient D700 as a tandem partner for the Z6

Good on Nikon for joining the competition. Issue with all of these so called vlogging cameras is the digital IS is usually rubbish. Sony tried it with the zve10 but was still a fail. Closest I've seen is on my Canon g7ii. Wth most lenses not having IS or OSS having awesome digital IS is key, and as you point out, phones have already cracked this and make a lot of vlogging cameras look silly.

does the webcam mode present itself as a usb webcam like the zv-1 does? That is the only reason I keep my zv-1 but usbc would be better … if it presents itself as usb to mac, PC, etc. The software option as a source (from any company) is just not reliable enough

The webcam mode on the Z50 makes it show up as a cam option in whatever program you use. I’m sure it’s the same with the ZFC and Z30.

@@firegoat73 Sony have taken this one further and certified it with the USB standard, so it appears like a UVA/UVC (USB standard) camera like real webcam as well, and much more reliable than sony’s mirror edge cam or nikon’s whatever cam or any other application / program that was made in a hurry in a pandemic and never updated as zoom, teams, etc is.

I'll be honest but the lav mic actually sounds about 10x worse. The dynamic range is so compressed compared to the camera you might aswell have a pillow over it. Sure the nikon picked up more sound but real world has sounds and the voice was still cleaer and more natural sounding. I might honestly pick it up used just for the fact its a great camera with a built in mic that sounds good.

I've been watching other videos on this camera, and footage taken with this camera (the others you've commented on). It looks like there's a lot less rolling shutter than the ZV E-10 (the ZV E10 has horrible rolling shutter) the Z30 shows better performance in low light it appears, but the ZV E10 looks like it has lenses with blurrier (better) depth of field Does that answer your question ? =)

One with an EVF in the corner would be nice. With the Fuji X-E4 having so few controls left this would be a nice alternative. You have to wonder if an X-E5 will have anything left at all. That is the problem now that the classic compact old cameras such as the X-E1 are not really being replaced but slowly stripped bare of anything not absolutely essential. A bit like the old steam paddle boats that had to burn anything wooden to make it across the ocean which could be a metaphor for the ailing camera industry now, particularly considering what is left of the affordable end. Reviews of a new camera coming out this year under £2,000 seem a rarity.

Could you do a comparison of Sony & Nikon 16-50 kit lenses? I would expect Nikon to be better. Agree with your point about needing a wider lens, and am sure widespread positive reaction to new Sony 10-20mm will have got Nikon thinking. That's mount with a camera attached to it by some mistake lol, it's so tiny. Would have been really nice to get a an EVF that pops out of the body or a separate one that you can attach it to the body for photographers. Previously they were considering entry-level cameras the ones with the lease AF points or features. Now it's more focused on software limitations and computing power which is a lot more than before, even an entry level camera has top-notch AF system and they need to find new ways to make it cheap and worth selling without cannibalizing the rest of the mid-high releases. Personally I would be hyped af if anyone would release a camera without AF system, and with manual lenses as entry level, I bet a ton of people would get into that if it would be cheap enough. We do need affordable systems even more so in this economic crunch crap.
