Very helpful, Emmett, clear and concise. I've been a Nikon user for years but this is my first mirrorless camera. It arrived today and the user's manual enclosed is very basic with limited information. They should have called it the Useless Manual! ...I'm so pleased I found your video so at least I know what the various buttons are for, mostly intuitive and similar to my other Nikons, but a couple I had no idea until I watched your vid. So a big thank you from me. I have subscribed :)

The control on the right side of the view finder is a diopter adjustment, to help focus correction for your eye. Just like glasses correct your eyesight. NOT a zoom for the EVF.
@EmmettBudd2 жыл бұрын
That's a better wording, yeah. When I look through it it just looks like zooming in and out lol

It would be nice if you can do a review of the new Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4 S lens

Nikon digital cameras forever have had a menu switch that allows the user to press and release the command button and then rotate the command dial as needed. Once you are done making your selection press the function button again or half-press the shutter button to return to whatever you were doing. I am sure the Z6ii and Z7ii cameras will continue that feature. My D850 uses the Custom Control F6 for this.

Thank you for very information helpful On my Z6ii I shoot most JPEGs Raw it’s great but not used that much. Great camera 24MP is enough AF is good for me . The 24-200 it’s nice… Keep up the great work.

Glad it was helpful! I like to edit my photos from the RAW, but sometimes just want JPEGs that don't need edited, depending on the situation, so I tend to just leave the camera set to RAW+N at the expense of my storage space lol

I'm really happy with how buttons are in my Z 5. FN3 could be good to have because I want to quickly change between human eye AF and animal AF.
@EmmettBudd3 жыл бұрын
A button to quickly switch to a particular mode would be huge! I love having all the autofocus mode options, but it takes way too long to switch between them on the fly. Also, I wish there was a combined human and animal eye AF mode because I rarely need them separate.

Great video, a good help for new users of the Z6ii like me. What are the default settings for the two Function buttons on the front?
@EmmettBudd2 жыл бұрын
Glad it's helpful! I believe the default for Fn1 is setting the white balance and Fn2 I still have in the default setting of setting the autofocus mode.

On the cameras front left brow can you enable that light so as to indicate whether recording is going on or not?

Nikon 18+200 mm lens is worth for money?
@EmmettBudd3 жыл бұрын
The 24-200mm lens? I definitely think so! I'm planning to release a full review of it coming out next week, but in my experience the lens is very high quality and takes great photos, and it's super versatile, so if you only want to buy or carry a single lens it's a great go to.

Where do you go in settings to find the info about the viewfinder mode/display mode/ Prioritize mode? Want to be able to shoot with out holding the camera up to my eye or pulling out the screen is that possible for the Z6ii?
@EmmettBudd2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I'm not totally sure what you're asking. In the setup menu there is a limit monitor mode selection that sets what options are cycled through when you press the button on the left side of the viewfinder, is that what you're looking for?
@Smoothnf2 жыл бұрын
@@EmmettBudd talking about is there a live view mode, when I have it in camera mode?
@EmmettBudd2 жыл бұрын
Gotcha, yep, there is! Since the Z6ii is a mirrorless camera, the screen always shows a live view and the screen and electronic viewfinder will both show you a live preview of the cameras settings by default.

Re the ISO button, I find it very uncumfortable to press the ISO button and rotate the front command dial.
@EmmettBudd2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree, it is kind of awkward. I find pressing the exposure compensation button and either dial to be awkward as well. Now I've used it for a few months I don't really notice anymore as long as I have both hands on the camera, but if you need to take a photo one handed for some reason it's nearly impossible to change those settings without dropping the camera. If I have to hit the ISO and front dial one handed to switch auto on/off, I'll rest the camera agains my body or something. Also, you can rotate your right thumb up to the ISO button and use your first finger on the dial, if that's easier. The ergonomics of those two buttons are a bit lacking, though.

@6:00 Nikon could use a firmware update to make the D-pad a 4-way function button. That would be ideal for those who want it.
@EmmettBudd2 жыл бұрын
Very true. I would love to see Nikon add more customizability through a firmware update. That seems technically possible to me, but I could see them making it a feature of higher models and newer version as well (for example the Z9 has the option to assign the AF modes to different buttons which this notably does not). I hope to see that in the future, though!
