@@alphaandomega2709 There are some things seriously missing from Sony at the price point though (a7iv specifically). Reliability of the mechanical shutter is one. Another is bad rolling shutter in video and overheating issues. Also, the z6iii has as a twice as fast shutter speed, faster continuous shooting, more than double the low light af sensitivity, higher video bit depth, higher frame rate at 4k, way better viewfinder and way better lcd and arguably better ergonomically. The difference in dynamic range isn't massive either. And lens selection isn't a huge matter of debate considering what is available for lenses between both parties is more than enough.

The main thing I learned about exposing with this camera is that you might want to trust the histogram and not the image with the lut assist. The lut assist give you the impression that the image is overexposed so I'd constantly underexposed the footage and then when editing I would have that chroma noise but as soon as I figured that out the noise went away.

1. Program the lens control dial to be ISO. There’s your spinning thing. 2. The book you held up to camera had no contrast, especially in low light. Cameras need contrast to focus. Your hand had lots of contrast for the Sony. 3. All video raw has noise. There is no processing. It has to be done in post. 4. 6K 60 NRAW… again. No processing… just a RAW feed. Processing 60 fps takes additional computing and energy resources = heat. 5. Try slightly over exposing when you shout raw or blog video. It’s easier to recover highlights than boost shadows. You’re welcome. Same with photos. The partially and fully stacked sensors of this generation of Nikon cameras like a lot of signal. I have mine permanently at +0.3. More signal = less noise.

I had ISO on the lens control dial, and messed it up quite a bit. Sooo easy to touch the ring and get ISO 25600 instantly. Luckily I saw it efter some shots and could disengage the ISO from the lens ring. Much safer to use the button on the top and the control ring on the camera.

Man, the more I use the z6iii, the more I actually kinda miss the Zf. I loved that look. But the ergonomics just wasn’t all that, even with the small rig grip (though it was slightly better) I dunno, it’s hard to explain it. I don’t do video and I guess I did that “knee jerk” reaction and thought the Z6iii was going to be a better stills camera. I just don’t do video. But I do wildlife and landscapes and some Astor and street and macro (I’m kinda all over the place) Just really love that look of the Zf. But I’m on the fence and need some help making up my mind. Should I just keep the Z6iii and get used to it or trade it back? I know it’s ultimately what I like to shoot and such, but what are your thoughts? Is the DR that much more different? That make any sense?

I own the Zf and it’s a beautiful camera. But I think the weight/ ergonomic critiques are valid. Many seem to have it as a 2nd body, and if it’s not your primary camera I think people are willing to forgive it for those flaws (sort of like how they do with a q2/q3). But I brought it as my only digital camera traveling to Korea recently and I sort of regretted it actually. The best way to use it (in my opinion) is to get rid of the grip which just adds weight, and keep in a camera sling. It negates some of the weight, you can take it out for your pics and short video, stash away after

I own 2 Zf's they're my work cameras, mostly for photo. I don't do video or I would need the Z6III. The ZF you can find for a good price, wait for a Christmas promotion. About the grip, just get any of the neewer or small rig grips, they work and are enough for a wedding day.. I mostly use the cameras with 85 1.8S and Nikon 24-70 2,8S. The cameras are always on one of those leather straps anyway. Nothing beats the current value of the ZF, if your use case is appropriate for that camera. Assuming you don't need the power of Z8 and Z9. The Z6III is for video, period

@@AlexMcDougallPhotography That is nonsense. The dust still has full access to the open cavity so ends up on the sensor as soon as the screen pops out of the way. Overall the main source of dust is the residual static charge on the sensor. Change lenses quickly and unless in a dust storm cleaning is rarely needed. I make it a habit to west clean the sensor as prep for an extended outdoor session but rarely for studio sessions unless props include any airborne matter such as smoke machines. 90% of the time, cleaning is not needed but the 10 sec cleaning is a habit.
