This was SUPER helpful. Thank you!!! Did not know we actually had to use rec.2020.

I would just like to take a moment to thank you. This has REALLY changed everything in terms of video from my Z8. Using LUTs and plugins has worked ok but is hit and miss. THIS was the missing info I needed to get the most out of my camera. THANK YOU!

Thank you so much. I just started using N-Log footage, but my grading results were disappointing. Following your workflow I'm really happy now with the results.

Can you do a tutorial on how to use the nlog LUT? Showcase the specific parameters it works in?

why did you address contrast on a parallel node rather than on the same node as exposure? and why did you choose to do a parallel node rather than a second serial node? does this preserve the footage better?

In color management area, you chose Output color space to be Rec.709 Gamma 2.4. Ive seen other tutorials just do Rec.709.... does this difference matter?? does it matter if you are working on a Mac as opposed to a PC?? many thanks

Is it possible in Da Vinci to save that as a template to quickly duplicate that with new footage and make changes from there? I am sure there would be but I am green as grass with Da Vinci. Cheers

I assume that since the color space transform nodes are exclusive to that (those) clips you can import different camera footage from another source and edit them together?

I shot underexposed for the heck of it just testing my D7100.. I found this video out of nowhere... This whole tutorial literally made the footage look absolutely fantastic(despite the noise for my underexposure) but typically everything is all screwed up if I used Gamma 1% the whole durn video is screwed up... This tut set me in the right direction and the results are awesome! Yes, the DSLR footage took well to the n-log as well as every profile and for once in my youtube time, what he did that I followed... actually matched!!!!!

GOLD!!! Thank you so much! I had no idea how to handle my N-Log footage correctly till now. Thanks again! Anyway, Ninja V displays it's BT.2020. Is that the same as Rec.2020?

Why not just set davinci up in colour managed. It recognises n-log and gives same result as using CST?

Nikon Log needs some improvement to get more DR. I think Panasonic’s got the best Log of all, at the moment. Also, if you like film emulation I would strongly suggest you try Dehancer. Developing process works differently, ( not adding but subtracting).
