If that isn't a testament to the quality of conditions in the enclosures you've been building then I don't know what is. Consider the babies a thank you to you from momma and poppa Nile.

Sorry but this is why we have issues in Florida.
@horse-lover682 жыл бұрын
@@Wesley-Stand-Pipes You have issues because of what??? Honestly, I would really like to know why. It is almost impossible to find video's about crok's and their babies, I mean longer than 4 min. It is all about incubating and not natural.
@Wesley-Stand-Pipes2 жыл бұрын
@@horse-lover68 it’s a problem because those animals will cause more problems in our Ecosystem. Just like the Burmese python and now the green anaconda. We just can’t support them. I mean great research I guess.

What an absolute treat to watch, I would love to hopefully see in the future if you end up finding a male Orinoco or a pair of Gharials doing the exact same behavior that your pair of Niles did in todays episode, And congratulations on the successful hatch!

This just shows how incredible those enclosures are, it’s naturalistic to a point that these giant animals behave like they’re in the wilds of their native homeland Hopefully other croc species are able to breed like this too

6:05 she chomped the babies head, and her reaction, is a long pause like an "ops" no telling if the baby was alive b4 she did that.
@scrubjay933 жыл бұрын
It would be extremely maladaptive for animals to eat their own young. She probably "knows" if the babies are viable and eats ones that won't survive. I am going to do some research to learn more about it--there must be a mechanism that prevents them from eating their young. With some animals, they stop eating for long periods (e.g., largemouth bass).

wow! That is so wonderful to see!! Congrats on the first crocodilians nesting and hatching babies in their new fantastic enclosures! I guess they like it :) It's also amazing to see parental care in a reptile. I didn't know they carried them from the nest to shallow water and gently (for a Nile Crocodile) crack them. And obviously defend the nest and babies. Super happy for you Kyle--it's great to see this happening after all your hard work! Now you know the enclosures are perfect and it's nice you didn't have to wait and worry! What a great morning.
