I wrote most of my PhD-dissertation with the help of this concert. Nils Frahm is therefore also in the acknowledgements: "A special thanks goes to Nils Frahm. Your music has enabled me to write every word of this thesis. Thank you for existing, and thank you for creating these inspiring sounds."

Saw him in Funkhaus yesterday and this was not a concert it was an event with everything fitting together. The old building that felt like you wander through old memories. The large studio 1 with an organ build into the wall, dimly lit. The Caretaker fills the air with nostalgia while people take a seat. And then it begins and Nils takes you onto a journey full of emotions. I loved everything about it. If you ever have the chance to see him live, do yourself a favour. You will never forget these memories.

Every single note and chord that Nils plays is always exactly what my entire being wants to hear.. The sheer beauty conveyed through his music is so incredible to the point where It's almost indescribable. The way his sound walks a thin line between the historically classical to the futuristic digital is surreal. He is essentially a bridge which connects two vastly different realms in time and to me the listening experience is always just as wildly impressive as the first time. *Jaw-dropped while floating in a gorgeous nebula.*

That's amazing to hear and I think a perfect opportunity as well. Last time I was there was to see Eric Prydz/Pryda/Cirez D. Either that or Jeremy Olander.. My memory is a bit hazy with regards to the timeline. But that's awesome. Last concert I saw was Sigur Ros in Toronto (pre-covid). It was a majestically beautiful experience. I just noticed, during “Says”, he’s tapping out the rhythm of the sequence playing in the background with his foot, while playing the melody on the piano in a different time signature. Are all piano players capable of this? It’s extraordinary. Truly a separation of brain hemispheres. Like two different people. Absolute genius. I don’t know what it is about “Says”. I play it to death. Lifts me up and inspires me.
@BasteonSanton
@BasteonSanton 4 жыл бұрын
It's actually quite common in trained piano players but it's unique to the instrument. You can do it with some stringed instruments like guitar but not the way you can on piano since you don't have to hold it. It opens up your other hand to play another part in another time signature. It's pretty neat tho

What an extraordinary, humble and great musician! I absolutely love his intense focus in each moment of performance and his casual, no frills style. Also, each time I watch him keeping one shoe off and the other on, for comfort and best execution of his playing, is cute and endearing. To say I wish I personally knew this man to see how these songs are born, is an understatement, as I can only imagine how the entire creative process unravels, before it ever reaches the ears of an audience. I have not witnessed any other composer, put so much progressive energy and extreme effort into a performance of this type of music. I am blown away by the passion of this musical genius and anticipating to see him live at the knockdown Center in New York, in March 2018.

You are the instrument sir; the piano just a tool. Every method and pure emotion put through it is everything a master of your craft should exhibit. And in my humble opinion, you do it with such a universal beauty that allows us into your process. Since I first heard it over a year ago, I’ve listened to Says at LEAST once a day. For these few minutes alone I thank you.

For almost two years cause of corona-shit I felt not that good and on top of it I punished myself not listening to music. Most songs made me cry and tear up. I am glad I got into it again and feel good. We'll see what tomorrow will bring but odds are in favor. Love that soft Jazz.

I was blessed to see him live in Hamburg's Elbphilharmony in 2018 (or 2019 ?) from the best seat in the house. Just directly 1,5m above the main sound engeneering desk, in the middle of the parquet seats. It was a dreamlike experience!

Gen Z and Millennial's Yanni. Congratulations. He could slowly play "chopsticks" with the same layers, effects, lights and emotive gyrations and y'all would swoon and say "genious!" Some things will never change.

@@pattinch1543 Just because this music is repetitive, does not mean it's cheap music. It Is quit an accomplishment to achieve this trance-like state within classical music. Taste differs, and probably there are snobs who approve everything Nils does. But I am a critical music listener, and I do think this is good music.

It's beautifully unnerving thing to listen the Beethoven or Mozart of your time right there, just making music for we humble humans. Nils Frahm, my man, I am in awe. I am blessed for the experience. You are a genius, in case no one told you today. So please, just keep on doing this same genius music stuff, would you? I really like it. I have only one problem, I can't decide which piece I like the most. Every single one of them is so great I love to listen them again and again. Good arrangement as well, last one really gives it all out and leaves you elated. And the way he plays... it's just like he pours something out from depth of his soul to us and we get to enjoy it and connect with it... I read comments about out-of-body-experience and I sincerely can believe it. And this is all from listening this recording, this must have been absolutely mystical, unreal experience live.
