Someone with the courage to play the pieces with a personal twist, in his own style, not just copy... I like that. "Ambre" is even more lyrical than in the original.

There is nothing off about this. It is as it should be: a musician performing the music they love and imbuing within it a sense of identity. The out of tune piano furnishes the art, the speed suggests an individual understanding, and your voice comes through in the subtle idiosyncrasies of the performance. Thank you for the performance, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Super impressive that you can do Hammers as fast as you can! I almost like it a bit slower, though, but I guess it's one of those performance pieces that is sort of designed to be done fast. If there's one piece you didn't do that I wish you had, Ode is probably my favourite of his tracks for solo piano.

You should really proud of this work you done. I have tears on eyes listening to this stories.. upd. By the way, do you tune your instrument by yourself? upd2. Probably the tears are because I understand that the group of people who really could try to understand the beauty of the real instruments is very small.. Wow.. to learn big pieces or to sightread well just open the world of freedom. But we don’t see the work and time behind the scenes🙏🏻

you're very accomplished. i love the works of Nils Frahm . Its hard for me to watch his work be played at the speed you feel is right for you. It lacks care and feeling. You are very good at reading and playing music though. I guess its just care and emotion thats lacking, something Nil's music is made of .
@coversart6 жыл бұрын
I understand your feelings!) But it's a very subjective thing - taste. Emotions and feelings also do not refer to mathematical dimensions. Nevertheless, the only thing I can say is that personally I do not see any sense in making records that are as similar as the originals. (Although at the moment of recording, I did not even heard the originals of the majority of the pieces) Basically I like diversity and freedom. Especially in art. Cheers!

it's nice but you play some pieces waayy to quick. nils has a new piano for example, that piece is meant to be like very mesmirizing. The speed stands a little in the way of that. besides that, very nice
@coversart7 жыл бұрын
Agree! (I have the same feeling. But, to be honest I didn't listen to all the originals, so it was kinda, let's say, that exact moment of the subjective interpretation. Just found the music sheets - recorded and then posted)

Nice interpretation but I have to say it needs a bit more work. In familiar for example it clearly need legato in the left hand and more enphasis on dynamics.
@benjaminenders87627 жыл бұрын
Just speed and technique is not art. At some parts, i feel you get lost in "i can play it so damn fast", there is a reason why Glen Gould interpretations are more interesting than Martha Argerich's !
@coversart7 жыл бұрын
No I didn't. Just played as I felt in that particular moment. I might play those pieces today totally different (or maybe not) PS. They both are fantastic. But my personal choice would be: Rachmaninov, Horowitz, Richter, Gilels, Pletnev, Volodos, Grubert and maybe Sokolov.

@soldlakemusic34467 жыл бұрын
Piano playing is not a race man, you don't need to play like a damn alien to impress people. For me, more than half the songs are too quick and this makes it a lot less enjoyable than Nils. You play like a robot, you should change that.
@coversart7 жыл бұрын
My favorite type of comments!) Thank you for your recommendation, dear Soldlake Music, but I'd like to decide just by myself how to play and what I should change in my interpretations. Btw, I like your Radiohead cover, sounds exactly the same as original. Exactly the same, man. How did you managed to cover (one of my favorite band) so precisely! and beautifully the same time? I'm really impressed. Man.

@coversart7 жыл бұрын
Clear downvote from me too) So mechanical or just pseudo-soulful? But I'm agree with you. It's all about feelings. But we all have different. ps. I am super lucky, and I don't really care about critics. But there are plenty people around us who do give a shit about such things. I think your post was really offensive at some point.
