Sir, I have a question regarding dimensions. We know that the power of any fundamental quantity tell us the number of dimensions. Like, Area = L² which tell us that area has 2 dimensions of Length which are length and breadth. Volume = L³ which means that Volume has three dimensions of Length which are length, breadth and height. So, if I say that Acceleration = LT raise to power minus 2 then does it mean that time has another dimension? Shouldn't time have another dimension just like how length have? And not only time, Jin bhi fundamental quantities power 1 se jyaada hoti hai kya unke sirf ek hi dimensions hote hai jo hume dikhte hai? Ya fir length ki hi tarah unke paas bhi more than 1 dimension hote hai?

Sir I have just started class 11th and stuck in a topic of physics. (That's exactly what I thought before starting physics). In chapter 2nd units and dimensions, I have problem with the concept of dimensions. The following definition of dimension was given by my teacher: Dimensions are the powers to which fundamental quantities are raised to express the units of derived quantities. I have a better interpretation: If we are given a derived quantity, then the fundamental quantity whose power is a non zero integer will help in defining the given physical quantity. Ex. We know that: M⁰L²T⁰ = Area And according to the definition mentioned above, (²) is the dimension. And According to my interpretation, the fundamental quantity whose power is a non zero integer will define the given quantity and the way or extent in which it define the given physical quantity is determined by the power of the fundamental quantity. That power tell us that how many dimensions of a physical quantity are involved in defining the given quantity. Like here the power of L is 2 which means that 2 dimensions of Length are used to define the given physical quantity which is area in this case. So, this definition of dimension doesn't tell us that what dimension exactly is! For comparison, it's like how you would define a fruit? ----> The thing which is hanging on a tree which we consume to get nutrients is called a fruit. (X) While the actual definition is, the ovary of flower got developed into a fleshy part which is called fruit. (Y) So, here (X) is not an appropriate definition while (Y) is an appropriate definition. The definition of dimension given by my teacher was like the definition (X). Now, when I searched the actual definition of dimension on Wikipedia then I got this: In Physics, dimension of an object is the minimum number of coordinates required to specify a point within it. This is somewhat confusing as well as convincing definition. CONFUSING part: It says that 'minimum number of coordinates'. Since a coordinate is because of a coordinate axes that's why we can say that dimension of an object is the minimum Number of coordinate axes required to specify a point within it. Now this definition seems to try to say that a point in an object can be defined with a certain number of coordinates and more coordinates than it. Like it wanna say that area of an object can be determined by using more than 2 dimensions. As it says that these are the minimum coordinates not exact coordinates. So, does it mean that a 2d object can be defined using three coordinates(x,y,z)? Convincing part: It is telling us that what dimension actually is. And, We know that the power of any fundamental quantity tell us the number of dimensions. And not only time, All those fundamental quantities whose power is more than 1 should have more than 1 dimensions just like length. Do they really just have 1 dimension which we can perceive or do they also have more than 1 dimensions which are hidden from us?

Sir, I have a question on newton's laws of motion. WKT F=ma, If a body is not accelerating, then F=m(0)=0. But I am applying force l am pushing a huge object but it is not moving then how we can say that there is no force at all.
@funkyjunky845
@funkyjunky845 3 жыл бұрын
actually, here, normal reaction comes into play. you are exerting a normal reaction on that huge mass and that mass is exerting the same force on you(Newton's third law). in this way, the mass did not move. for example, you applied 20 Newton force on a huge mass, the mass is also exerting 20 N force on your hand, in this way normal reaction(or force applied) is cancelled and hence the mass did not move
@Anonymouslearner244
@Anonymouslearner244 3 жыл бұрын
@@funkyjunky845 Bro...I think it is due to high friction between heavy mass and floor....which is stopping the motion...normal reaction act on different bodies...and it can't cancel each other....due to normal reaction you will experience a force on your hands while pushing!!🙏(that's why it hurts😅)
@funkyjunky845
@funkyjunky845 3 жыл бұрын
@@Anonymouslearner244 it will be a combination of both. imagine a 10 ton mass on a frictionless surface and you are pushing that.. if ONLY FRICTION is taken into consideration, you would have pushed that too easily, but you have to apply more and more force as usual. and from the cancellation of forces i meant to convey that the force is equal and opposite
@neharevankar9221
@neharevankar9221 3 жыл бұрын
Ok, Now consider the body is moving with acceleration a, But there is still normal reaction (contact force). I push it by F force it pushes me by F force gets canceled then from where it gets acceleration.

Big bang was an explosion. Not an object whose speed you can measure. You should ask that whether the rate of expansion of universe is faster than light? The answer is yes. The rate of expansion of space is millions of time that of light. That's why we have things like observable and unobservable universe. If universe wasn't expanding faster than light then Light from any part of the universe should reach to us and everything must be visible to us but it's not the case. And it's not the violation of theory of relativity because the theory says that "nothing in this universe can go faster than the speed of light and speed of light is the ultimate speed limit." But note that he said *"in the universe"* He didn't mentioned about the universe itself. So, all the laws of physics are working here appropriately.
@dongamerlive2974

Sir you are intelligent but you are saying that the big Ben is not an object but light is also not an object we can consider a big ban as object because in Big Ben it have mass and if any any object have mass and then the it considered as object. Sir theory say that if any object in the universe is faster than it is also can be energy if it is faster than that light then it is considered faster object can be and have mass it is thousands of temperature on millions of temperature why we cannot consider as it faster
