Thankyou for the teachers reaching out to the young ones so they may carry on the culture, language and traditions. May your tribe be blessed with the giving of lands back to your people. May the Creator smile upon you and embrace you back home.

Lots of knowledge in this video. It gets my blood boiling. Sad, what the nimiipuu went thru, the native people went thru. Never for get. My grandfathers grandfather was one of the warriors, and I'll pass my knowledge down to my kids. Yellowwolf's book is also vary insightful from the nimiipuu perspective.

You cannot visit the Big Hole Massacre site and not be moved. As a child, I always wondered why I felt such overwhelming sadness in the Bitterroot Valley. Then, my mom told me about the flight of the Nimipuu.

An informative and beautiful video, with an inspiring and hopeful message for the current and future generations. Everything wants to belong to something and to know their culture, and this one is alive and well. A proud and blessed nation. ❤️ Thank you.

Chief Joseph a holy man who deserves much honor. US Govt owes not only apology but financial reparations for stealing 90% of the land given to Nez Perce reservation, and reparations for the greed of the craven gold miners who were in on the land steal. US Army deserves no honor for the harm done to Native peoples in 1800’s racist “Indian Campaign”. Shame has been brought upon the United States of America. In 2024 we are seeing the chickens come home to roost with the destruction of democracy embodied by fascist Trump. USA getting what it has created.

The Indian people known as the Nez Perce (pronounced Nay Parsay) aka the Nimipu are historically a peaceful people. They were forced to take up arms by the white man breaking the treaties made to them. No white men were killed prior to the 1877 Nez Perce War started by the US Army.

This tribe has to patiently put the pieces back together and feed them to their youth until the culture and tribe has become whole.
