NIMTITA RAJBARI, MURSHIDABAD HISTORY:-
Gour Sundar Chowdhury and his brother Dwarika Nath Chowdhury started the Zamidary at Nimtita in 1855.
Many Famous persons frequented the house at different times. At the time of the marriage of Dwqarika Nath’s son Gyanendra Narayan, he invited the Kolkata Star Theater to do a play.. The famousplay actor Khirod Prasad Bidya Binod came with them
Dwarka Nath’s son Mahendra Narayan established at Nimtita Rangamancha’on the lnes of public theaters in Kolkata. Every year at the time of Holi, he used to produce a play ERven the famous Shishir Bhaduri acted on this stage. Because of the activities of Mahendra Narayan, Nmtita earned a place in the cultural map of Bengal. The stage was destroyed in 1943-44 by the flooding of the Padma River.
In the year 1957, the famous film maker Satyajit Ray filmed the famed ‘Jalsaghar’ at the Nimtita HouseHe came back to do ‘Debi’ in 1959 and ‘Samapti’ in 1960.
