I hope what happened is: since being on the show, she was put in touch with some help for her depression (& frankly, delusions). Whether that entails just talking to a therapist, or medication, I don't know, but I hope that's what we are seeing the results of. I know Ru and others on the show care about her and want to help her, so hopefully she also wants help and is helping herself. It was nice seeing her appear to be doing better.

This isn't what happened though. She hasn't had any therapy or taken any medication. I know because I've been steady on her lives since the filming of the show wrapped mid-September and she shares a lot with us. This is just part of who Nina/Pierre is and has always been, but what we saw on the show is also part of who he is. We see this whole spectrum from him all the time for those of us who live on his lives, but her definitely has grown in confidence over time. A competition like drag race is on of the hardest possible things for someone who already experiences depression, paranoia, and who feels like people are against them (which they are in a competition setting in a very literal sense) so that stress really showcased a lot of the demons that Pierre battles. But being alone and doing his makeup is where he lives his life!! That is his comfort zone and where the thrives and can really shine and you can see that here. I don't think that therapy and medication is the right path for everyone (not that you said it is either), but Pierre is still living a good life without medication, prescription or otherwise. I love to see him happy, but I am also deeply appreciative that he never masks his true feels and is brave enough to share those dark thoughts with the world. I know it has meant a lot to me and people like me to finally feel like there is genuine representation of people who struggle with mental illness on tv.

C K W I agree with everything you said, BUT, I know that mental illness and depression are not just facets of one's personality, despite what many believe. Depression is an imbalance in the chemicals in one's brain, nothing more. Just like having diabetes is not your personality, it's an imbalance in your body's chemistry. My own mother believes her depression is just the way she is, and it's not! The way she is on antidepressants is how she really is, and is meant to be!

Let me be real with y'all for a minute. Nina may have been a self-saboteur, but she is still one of the fiercest queens this season. The queens aren't "bad" this season, but not really memorable. It's not a season 5 or 6 where half of the queens turned into legends. Shea, Trinity, and Alexis are all talented, but they are forgettable. Sasha and Peppermint have their moments, but nothing near what they could be. Nina brought the drama and made this season memorable, she brought something different. Personally I think Nina, Valentina, and Farrah saved this season.
