PERFECTION....I became aware of Nina Simone in the sixties when I was in my twenties..I am now 70 and it still resonates with me. Her talent is timeless. What a privilege to be able to have her music in my life.

Everytime when I hear this song,I remember the day I was in a restaurant in salamanca in1988. I didn't know who's the singer, had been looking for,and finally found out! This is amazing.

I wish I could have seen her performing live. I`m a 18 years old brazilian, and I only became aware of her work about 1 year ago. Her music is really timeless, I just love to see people who knows how to enjoy real music. I love to sit down on my library with a bottle of wine just wondering how amazing it would be if I could be there, watching she singing by my eyes.

She had a beatific look about her when she got older. She also became softer around the edges. Everything about her is soft--her voice, her face, her shoulders--her toute ensemble. Rest in peace lovely lady.

I agree 100%. I'm a 69yo Australian & was lucky enough to see Nina perform live in London,England in the 60's at a venue called the Ram Jam Club. She was mesmerising & had the whole audience in the palm of her hand.I was about the only white person in the club & whenever anyone made a noise whilst she was singing,she would stop playing until they were quite. It was one of the best concerts that i have ever seen.

NEVER can I imagine Nina lip syncing to her earlier recordings. This upload insults her brilliance and genius since every performance she gave was LIVE, yielding new and different interpretations, each unique. Still a teenager, she had been manipulated into selling all rights to her original recordings, and consequently never saw a penny of the millions they earned. The fantastic original recording overdubbed here is readily found. What of the rare classic meriting respect beneath ?

Question: Why are you the only one of all comments, who see this the same as me?? She was not only sad, she is even angry. !! Look exactly the piano, and how she didn't (!) play it right. She is kind of oppposite. It seemed, she didn't like this song. Because in other videos she always act a little bit aggressiv, while she singing this song.

everything she does I think is just great. Four Women is my favorite. others started me out at a very young age loving her style, prose, unique quality, kinda like a miles davis, ahead of her time but on time in a way. you have to listen to her. she requires it. shes not just playing the piano or just singing a song. she has a purpose beyond that. I think thats her gift to us.

Not only is she not playing here, she's also not singing live. Not that she couldn't repeat her song exactly, she is just far too talented and has too much fun for not letting the moment and especially her mood have a go too. Listen to the radio version of this song and other real live performances of this tune and you'll recognize it. Every version of every song of her is different. I'm really kind of sure here.
@BcnNation10 жыл бұрын
Totally agree: she said never play a song the same way twice, if you are a fan of Mrs Simone amazing work you can recognize this version was studio recorded and she is not sing it live. Anyway, always a pleasure to listen and to admire this absolutly talented woman.

I have been a fan of Nina's since the 60's. I love this song, but my favorite is " You Can Have Him." Lots of feeling on that one. Some talent! Whatever the magnitude of demons that tormented this life, one thing is certain: We've captured her on tape for generations to enjoy,appreciate and admire. Can you replace the Mona Lisa or even try to duplicate good cheesecake? It'll never happen. Nina lives!
