Even though the song is sung in French, it is the FEELING that #NinaSimone put in that makes the song understandable, that makes it speak to something deep in the soul, that makes it BEAUTIFUL... I cry when I hear this.

I dedicate this song to my parents in which married on April 25th, then parted their ways. Their true colors being that of black and red for as long as they live. They parted their ways after 25 years... I sing this song in my heart for them, the pain and love I feel to hear that this song means them, Clarence & Paula's love will live and never die here... Flames of fire fueled my heart when they split. I was young and divided. I played sides to avoid the pain inside. As I grew older I understood I was wrong, but hey, they really were over... What do I do? A young girls heart had been torn, and it kept tearing. I watched family fall apart. Reckless we all were hopelessly missing the united love of a couple that come together to part.. Atleast I was. Music hopefully will help me remember them or them remembering me. One day we all may part, without a good bye. I'm not ready to feel the love, then the pain. Of losing one or the other. The agony I feel. I come here to prepare my heart for the pain. What ever do I expect? The unexpected, the yearning for them to live forever. Only in my heart, right. I read a story about Adam and Eve as a elementary student at home. I wondered was I meant to be here when one has been torn by the break of a united love that aparts in death. I'm here, they are still here. (sigh) My goodness, this song could go on forever. Ive only seen them kiss once, and I closed and covered my eyes.. They were both estranged by the act. United by holy matrimony I've only seen my parents kiss once... This grammatical linguistic error, it needs to be described in another language the love...

I love Edith Piaf's version more than words, but Nina elevates this song to otherworldly
@peter47ish7 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry Maria Rivera but Piaf Never recorded, nor did she sing this song ever ! There's a version on KZbin claiming it's a Piaf recording but that's a serious mistake. It's the brazillian singer Maysa and certainly not Piaf and it should have been corrected for 6 years now for crying out loud ! But I agree with you on Nina though
@naceirabakhti52036 жыл бұрын
Peter Schneider Ne me quitte pas is a song from a great Belgian singer called Jacques Brel in 1959 and you are right Edith Piaf has never recorded this beautiful song.

Nina gives a beautiful rendition of this song. The only performance I like better is that of Jacques Brel, who wrote the song in 1959 after Brel's mistress, who was pregnant with his child, broke up with him when he refused to acknowledge that the child was his. He later said that this was not a love song, but a hymn to the cowardice of men. One imagines that Brel must have carried the guilt of that episode for the rest of his life, which ended in 1978 at the age of 49.
