About this channel Im pierre most know me from Rupaul's Drag Race season 9 as Nina Bonina Brown. As crunchy as the Phillipines franchise can be, it's honestly still a lot more fun than the actual US series of drag race.

It's only crunchy in terms of editing and production things, the contestants always bring it. Most US queens now don't even pad or wear makeup, the bar really isn't that high.

Only the editing is crunchy tho. If the production lived up to this franchise’s potential specially in terms of editing, lighting, and camera, they could even beat UK and Canada.

In terms of many Asian countries disliking black or darker skin people… it’s a multilayer issue. For darker skinned Asians, it’s a status stereotype- tanned/darker skin meant working in the fields. But with regards to black people or those of African origins, most Asian countries are homogenous so seeing other races is not a common thing. So many thinking their skin is legitimately dirty is not unheard of. Also, for many (especially the older generations) most of the understanding of other cultures comes from western media and other stereotypes that are prominent. It’s getting a little better because of the internet, but even then stereotypes are still very prominent.

@@thejojobaboy thank you. I tried to be as simple but accurate as possible. Obviously there are actual historical moments where these stereotypes were introduced- such as European travelers in the 18th/19th century having indentured servants with them that were black, one of the “openings of Japan” after it isolated itself from the world, which brought in foreign trade and with that, western media and the depictions of other races. And there’s also the west’s version of colorism that really impacted many Asian countries. It’s such a hugely complicated and multilayered topic. I only know a small portion of it because of a project I did in college that focused on the portrayals of white and black people in anime.

I saw Kelis in Glendale at some random parking lot, and she was by herself and almost 9 months pregnant I was so floored cause she’s one of my fav artists ever, and stupidly I asked for a picture, and she very politely declined I immediately regretted asking her because I realized how ridiculous it was to ask an almost 9-month old pregnant woman in the middle of a hot ass day But she had every right to say no, I told her I loved her and her music and kept it moving ❤️ so I totally understand the Snow White actress not saying yes to a pic. East Asians (e.g. China, Korea, Japan) have been obsessed with whiteness for a long long time. Nothing to do with Western influence, skin color represented social class back in the day of the Emperors and Kings and stuff. In the Philippines (Southeast Asia)it’s because of being colonized for hundreds of years by the Spanish and Americans. Also stems from a social class issue. If you’re more like the Westerners then you have a higher social class.
