Lovely. I see Jacob every time he comes to Los Angeles. His last show Tori Kelly and John Legend came out and sang Bridge Over Troubled Water... even better than on the album. Felt like I was witness to history.

Yes, the power of that sung yell is visceral. Aurora did one on the Vevo arrangement of "Soul with no King" but dueted, it is more than twice as powerful.

Hello Nina, thanks for this! I, too am gobsmacked by this miraculous performance. Two prodigies become musical geniuses together! I hope they collaborate again. Jacob has worked with a lot of wonderful singers, but AURORA is so much more than a singer.
@ninaschofieldАй бұрын
Yes they could do so many other wonderful performances together, let’s keep our fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I, too, always weep when I hear this. Weep for the beauty these two have created and for the fate of the earth. Miraculous as their music is, it will take an even more profound miracle to save our Mother Earth.🌏

Their voices together, their facial expressions, the melody. To me it sounded like the essence of fragility and strength at the same time. Just what we, humans, can be. It also sounded to me like a message that united, we can really accomplish a lot and change the fate of life on Earth. I was tearing up here right with you Nina

I´ve been watching a lot of vocal coaches and your comments are my favourite. I liked a lot when you played the parts on the piano. Also very cute you shed some tears at the end because shows your great sensitivity. Aurora and Jacob absolutely delivered. I may have misheard but you may not have listened much of Jacob? If you haven´t you should dig deep because you will go to a new dimension. If you have then ignore this. Thanks for that video!

Audio was primarily by MIT's Dr. Ben Bloomberg, who has been Colier's co-producer since about 2010. Both co-inventers of Collier's Harmonizer, which is the mainstay of Collier's live shows. Note that most or all of the mics that they are currently using are not off the shelf. Modified Shure, Newman, and sensiBel/Sennheiser. The sensiBel mics are optical MEMS, which is cutting edge. One is likely burried in that strange collar. Until recently, Collier's goto mic was an off-the-shelf, consumer-grade Shure sm58. I can't find the source, but Bloomberg mentioned that the takes of this song were frequently stopped to retune the piano and for Collier to simplify his keyboard intentions for his very cold hands.
@ninaschofieldАй бұрын
Thank you so much for this info - so interesting to read. And also you make a good point re the cold and how they handled that; totally understandable that Jacob had to adapt his placement on the keys. The cold really affects everything! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@art_by_accidentАй бұрын
Very interesting - and the biggest miracle of all is that this was actually _done live_! These days, almost everything you see is lip syncing to prerecorded vocals, and in far less demanding circumstances than this. Even on stage a lot of singers do that! Aurora and Jacob could easily have done that and gotten away with it. Genuine artists don't compromise. Absolutely fantastic and what a great example to set.
@panchiolarranaga1616Ай бұрын
Hola Nina Preciosa, good to have you back with Aurora and now, with Jacob, another special and unique artist of our times...these two together make so much sense and we were also blessed with this beautiful gift what a privilege!........ Hope to see you soon with Aurora, Jacob and maybe if the Universe stays in the correct path Luv and thanks for making today my day since so early got juice for the rest of this day

Another great reaction and comments to the amazing collaboration. Of course I love Aurora but both artist are amazing here :). I love harmonies and how both voices work here together. Ps. I think there is a moment where Aurora loosed a balance a little on the platform (in the moment when she moved the hand up faster), good she did not fall into this freezing water.

The opening piano notes, along with the scenery, reminded me a bit of the song "The Ice Shelf" from the solo piano album "Antarctica"(1986) by jazz pianist Richie Beirach, who's playing brought to mind icicles.

I didn’t get emotional until you did and that scream is so full of passion. I loved the piano on this and Jacob’s voice was beautiful. I had only heard of him through this song and immediately went to check out his oeuvre. Aurora was magnificent as always. As was your reaction.
@ninaschofieldАй бұрын
Thank you so much - I’m the same as you and haven’t yet discovered a lot of Jacob’s back catalogue but absolutely must now!
@EinyenАй бұрын
The closeup camera view and audio recording seems to be in one take, and when Jacob arrives at the platform, we never see the right side of the platform, so Aurora is probably waiting there. Then they recorded another video take (or more than one) from far away without the closeup camera man present, and added clips from that view during the song. Jacob is being called a genius of musical theory, the Mozart of Gen Z (except he is Gen Y / Millennial from 1994), and he has won 6 Grammys, one for each of his 4 albums and for 2 other things I cannot remember.
@ninaschofieldАй бұрын
It was very cleverly done! Thank you for the extra info on Jacob 🙏🏻
@dnslighter6982Ай бұрын
Some of the video work was drone. Elsewhere it was mentioned that there were frequent stops. I don't know about this song, but most videos released under Collier's name have had extensive post-recording studio audio work.

Beautiful reaction, Nina. I always get choked up a teary eyed when I hear this, for the same reasons as you. It's definitely a beautiful thing to see what music can do to you. And that many people react the same way. It tells me that we're maybe not as shut off as we appear most of the time. Subjectively speaking ofc. But that's how I feel. I just saw Aurora in concert for the 2nd time, and she is absolutely amazing. Angelina, Aurora and Eivør. The only 3 artists that I really need 🙂 Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

Dear Nina! Ohh what i have waiting for this! and i was rather sure that you should love it. I have heard it so many times and i will never get tired of it. So important, so beautiful, so thoughtful and scary at the same time. I have hard to thought that anybody could to thisbetter. It is a work that only those two can make it like this. The have both the love for planet earth. Love could be very selfcentre but they are both empath and love mother earth in a kind of selfless love and i love it. Hope this make sense. Every tone they sing is important to me. Sorry about my emotional jabber. About the snow it is a snowstorm outside right know here in my part of Sweden
@ninaschofieldАй бұрын
