What I love about her covers is that she is able to change the whole song into a completely different meaning to what the original vision is trying to say take this cover I’ve heard the original thousands of times and never have I been transported into the story of this boy and his journey in the way that Aurora takes you,you actually are there seeing everything you see the whole picture, she also in the same concert takes you on a journey with The Snowman where you feel as if your walking in the air holding Aurora by the hand and seeing what she sees.Aurora is simply a Genius there is no other word to describe her and honestly we are blessed to have her music in our lives ❤️🍎❤️🍎❤️

Yes, "Walking in the Air" from this same concert is also absolutely beautiful. In fact, I always think of those two songs together (even though she doesn't do them back to back). They're both just gorgeous covers that take you on a journey with her. When I think of one, I always think of the other too.

This song was sang by Nat King Cole back in the 50's, composed by Eden Ahbez, in the late 40's I think , longhaired beachboy ahead of his time! Heard it in my home as a chld, my parents were Nat's fans......and I forgot ituntil 2017 when Aurora made this cover in the Trondheim Cathedral, NIdaros, and it simply blew my mind, She is so goooooood!

Yes, best performance of this piece ever. No small achievement since, at the time, everybody and their mother covered this song. Nat King Cole was the first to record it. He had a big hit with it. This song opened up Nat's entire career. It's incredible to see a singer come in 70 years after the fact and take ownership of such a classic piece. Aurora's performance was just so raw and ethereal, a perfect match to the song. She was almost belting at times, and I've never seen anyone attack this song that way. It's generally sung soft and buttery. I think Aurora deeply identified with the story. It's somewhat autobiographical because she is something pf a woodland nymph herself. Aurora at her very best.

Love her voice and how she sing. Also like your reactions very much. When you said she could sing a cappella then it reminded me some video I saw from her concert (I will write from memory). When she said and the next song will be... and someone shouted Nature Boy. And then Aurora: "Oh, you want that song... Ok :)". And she sang it a cappella without any preparing ( it sounded great for me :) ).

Funny you mention the idea of her being in a fantasy series....or doing the music for it. I'm a HUGE Aurora fan and thought I'd seen everything.... But just yesterday I randomly stumbled across this cover she did of Scarborough Fair. And there's a music video for it as well...where she's basically in this super elaborate medieval setting. It's very high fantasy....with Aurora! It was really cool and I'm kinda shocked I'd never seen it before. Based on her hair, it seems like it was filmed right around the same time as this concert....in 2017.

@@ninaschofield You're welcome. Aurora was 19 at the time, and I love one of the top comments of that video, so true: "A 19-year-old girl without any prior professional music background did this. She wrote the lyrics, composed the melody, sang the song in the purest way that humans expected to connect with: no instrument, only the voice alone. It is not only beautiful. it's magic."

Her performance at Nidarosdomen (nee-dah-rohs-doe-men) is my absolute favourite, I really wish I had been able to experience it live. You should react to some (or all 😛) of her other songs from this performance, she bring so much power to the songs that's it's just a different experience to her other performances. If choosing one of her songs to react to next, Lucky is widely regarded as one of, if not the best performance of hers.

Very nice reaction! "Nidarosdomen" = "Nidaros Cathedral" in the city of Trondheim, Norway finished in the year 1300. She performed this amazing concert on Nov 2nd 2017, which is a classic now in the Aurora fan community, and it was aired several times on national Norwegian TV NRK. At first this concert was denied by the church administration because it did not meet the criteria for use of the church: "It should provide room for wonder, faith and hope" (Obviously they had not listened to Aurora's music). The festival arranging this concert complained to the parish council and they unanimously approved it. She also performed another cover here at this concert from the Christmas cartoon "The Snowman": Howard Blake - Walking In The Air (as well as David Bowie - Life On Mars, but you already reacted to the best version (imo) of that cover long ago, from NRK TV where she plays the Fender Rhodes piano). There are another live version of "Nature Boy": youtu . be / QcOnwLr9b50 as well as a studio version from the Deluxe version of her 1st album "All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend": youtu . be / 9w-bQaysbf0, if you want to listen to those privately. They used her version of Nature Boy in the trailer for the movie Alien - Covenant in May 2017.

When she has sung this song in concerts, she normally sings it a Capella. The instruments here were such a gorgeous accompaniment, imo, as well as the aaah, aaaah, at the end, which she doesn't do without instruments. So very lovely! I wonder who came up with that ending - her or other musicians! At any rate, it always feels to me that she has taken a rather chipper Nat King Cole song and turned into something wonderful and mysterious out of myth.

I believe her cover of Nature Boy was originally made for the trailer of the ci fi horror film Alien Covenant. So your film association may be quite spot on. It is produced by Odd Martin Skålnes and Magnus Skylstad (Her previous guitar player and present drummer) But I am sure she invented the Cello melody herself.

This is the opener of the concert, and I think the reason it doesn't resolve is to lead in to Little Boy in the Grass, a song for her first boyfriend who was killed in the worst school shooting ever. That is followed by a kind of viking death song, Under Stars. The three kinda kinda form a unit here.

Aurora has a beautiful voice. I like the theatrical, gothic folk feeling of this song. I love it she does her own thing, not following the popular trends. She comes across with the feeling of Norwegian folklore and nature. If you like Aurora a lot, there is Russian solo artist who is very good, which I stumbled by accident is: "Polnalyubvi". Suggestion: Polnalyubvi - Кометы (Official Music Video). Also might appeal to you is Icelandic solo artist is "Sólveig Matthildur". She has an Alternative all-girl band called "Kælan Mikla". Suggestion: Sólveig Matthildur - Venus.

As a vocalist and pianist I think you would LOVE to watch this little mobile phone video she did 2 years ago where she sits at a piano and sings an unbelievable song that never made it onto her 1st album. Simply stunning, and shows her musicianship and goofy adorable soul. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGXKe3qOg9ieaK8 On a cell phone. Just doing it for some fan or friend who asked for it. Again, just incredible. And full of little human mistakes that make it even more astounding, because she just shrugs them off or has fun with them.

I love Nat King Cole's cover of this. It's interesting to hear Aurora's take on it. I think the word "idiosyncratic" is the word for her arrangements. There's beauty and strangeness intertwined. Say, I wonder if you've heard of Aurora's countrywoman Angelina Jordan? She won Norway's Got Talent at age 8 singing songs like Billie Holiday's Gloomy Sunday and George Gershwin's Summertime. She's now signed to Republic Records and recently released a reinvention of Elvis Presley's hit Suspicious Minds. I think you'd find it impressive. Here's a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIXFfJuhmMqFZpI

She recorded it in Dec 2012 at 16 as a gift for her parents. Aurora uploaded it to Facebook, and a friend uploaded it without her knowledge to the Norwegian radio station NRK P3, they have a site called "Urørt" (Untouched) for new and unknown artists. This along with the 10th grade school performance uploaded by someone to Facebook was how she was discovered by Made Management and her current manager. Read more details on Aurora wiki under Puppet. We owe so much to Aurora's mother 🙂 : "Suddenly, three weeks after ["Puppet"] was released, I had management. And people were asking for interviews, and I got a few gigs. It was very strange. And I didn't even want to meet my management. I didn't have any use to become an artist, I didn't see the point of it. Then my mother told me that she felt this wonderful feeling between sadness and happiness, at the same time. She told me that if I could make her feel that way, maybe I could make people feel that way. And it would be selfish in one way to hide music from the world if it could be of any use. That kind of made me take the first step into the music industry."
