@aaron18886 жыл бұрын
those bands have nothing in common the holy trinity as u call it would be joy division, the sound, the chameleons, and the cure between 80 and 82 thats where this sound started and none were considered goth bauhaus was good but more of an art school band nine inch nails while also good was just the first wave of industrial pop bands incorporating more catchy guitar rifts to be accepted by the main stream crowd

Awesome P M and the banda too! So this is permanent, love's shattered pride. What once was innocence, turned on its side. A cloud hangs over me, marks every move, Deep in the memory, of what once was love. Oh how I realized how I wanted time, Put into perspective, tried so hard to find, Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way. Destiny unfolded, I watched it slip away. Excessive flash points, beyond all reach, Solitary demands for all I'd like to keep. Let's take a ride out, see what we can find, A valueless collection of hopes and past desires. I never realized the lengths I'd have to go, All the darkest corners of a sense I didn't know. Just for one moment, I heard somebody call, Looked beyond the day in hand, there's nothing there at all. Now that I've realized how it's all gone wrong, Gottas find some therapy, this treatment takes too long. Deep in the heart of where sympathy held sway, Gotta find my destiny, before it gets too late.
@sharknadofartquake24492 жыл бұрын
Horrible that he kills himself not long after writing this when if he'd meditated enough to feel bliss and did that often he'd still be with us IMO. Therapy Shmerapy he's right that treatment takes too long.

This is pretty cool, but whats ironic is that JD and Bauhaus came out at the same time and probably weren't even aware of each other, as JD was a Manchester band and Bauhaus was a Northampton band. And both totally rocked.
@ianguynz10 жыл бұрын
I recently read Peter Hook's book and you are right, no mention of Bauhaus. Joy Division were really late 70's whilst Bauhaus never really peaked till 81 - 82, so a bit of a gap; also Bauhaus got lumped in with the whole Goth thing
@DanieLatzanich10 жыл бұрын

feels like there are two kinds of NIN audiences-one who know what time it is and acknowledge that NIN come from a lineage including Cure, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Bowie etc (and of course including Ministry, industrial et all) and the other that seems to just be there to be Trents cult. its a shame, you get more out of NINs music when you can see how its connected to a rich past.

Well seeing as how one of Ian's biggest musical being Jim Morrison, and how Ian was strongly influenced off of him: the answer would be not at all. Joy Division would sound no where near as good if they had a raspy singer. Ian's influences didn't have raspy voices. There is only a couple good bands that are okay to good with raspy voices, like Nirvana, because it was it's own thing. It was mimicking anything else.
@jumofi4 жыл бұрын
Ian was influenced by Morrison, Bowie, Iggy and Reed. He listened to Sinatra before recording Love Will Tear Us Apart.
