I'm so, so, SO grateful Trent didn't go the way of so many unbelievably talented musicians who have died (recently) from drug-related BS. Not only did he NOT die, he came back ripped AF, dropping hard NIN tracks, composing OSTs for movies, and starting HDA with his new wife. This is a man we should all emulate. A quiet professional who cares about the quality of everything he does.

to be fair, it's very rare you get to see Trent properly until the encore when all the lights come on. the visuals on the song sanctified worked so well, changes the atmosphere completely. NIN are well know to play in heavy lights and dry ice, they do it well as most bands just tend to get lost in it and forget the crowd is even there.

As much as I love the NIN *_sound_* , I just don't know many other artists working in the *_visual_* way that Trent does with such effectiveness. The sheer claustrophobic *malevolence* communicated in something as fundamental as the stage lighting and even the way the performers interact with it, just keeps my admiration for him at ridiculous levels.

@@grimgutters9815 Well, then language and detail matters. Read my original comment again, then read your original reply again. Your's only makes sense if I was claiming/asserting there was no-one else as good as Trent. e.g. Me: "I can't think of anyone else as creative as Trent Reznor." You: "I can. Peter Gabriel." That makes sense. There's a question and an answer. But I wasn't making any such claim. I said I don't know many other artists who are as effective with their visuals. I wasn't claiming there weren't any. You could have said "Peter Gabriel's pretty amazing." That would have been an addition to the discussion. I've never been a huge NIN fan (and I love industrial music), but you have to admit right here: the way they do the lighting combined with smoke/fog (and it's SO FUCKING MINIMAL in this clip) is genius. It's the opposite of what Rammstein would do, and again, I LOVE how Rammstein does their live shows. I know a folk bass player (from a known band)(not going to name drop here) who saw this tour and he loved it. That says something about the quality of the live experience.

You should have seen the 2008 tour "Lights in the Sky" - an LED lighted scrim around the stage. I don't know who the hell is this Louis guy , but I'm sure most of his fans now understand what is a good and real music

One thing I've always truly loved about Trent Reznor is the fact that he is not pitch perfect, and he fucking owns it. Whether it be on studio work, or live, he fucking owns it. I have so much respect for that.

@@parasite-b9604 imperfections add character.... its egoistic to be a perfectionist I feel. Our ears are not designed to hear perfectly just like our sight has imperfections too...we all have a blind spot in our sight that we almost never notice it but we all do. ...music is always best when its live ..because it's not perfect...but more human

@@JusAGuyPassinBy you have absolutely no idea as to how much I agree with you. I'm a programmer and vocalist myself. I'm not going to share my band's name because I do not believe in self-promotion via comments on a band that I love. But yes. I could not have said it better. Coming from that background of every being perfectly aligned does not work. You lose all sense of the song being real. You are so very right that we all have that "blind spot". We do. Even with it being sometimes unnoticeable as you said. Possibly one of the most agreeable comments that I've ever read on here.
