That'd be awesome. Mario Kart devs should refer back to the character selection from Mario Super Sluggers. Characters like Toad, Yoshi, and Koopa had all the color variants seen in previous games, and all variants were consolidated into one character tile.

I think there should be an option to either have all the characters at the start or to unlock them. This gives an option for people who don’t want to unlock the characters to get them all at the start while also giving players who want to unlock everything an option to unlock the characters on their own rather than being given them.

I would agree as long as they dont have insane requirements to unlock. I dont want to have to grind like crazy just to unlock the one character i want. If it was like maybe Smash Ultimate, where you unlock characters at random, then maybe thats a bit better, as it would just make the requirement of unlocking characters the same no matter who you got. But probably also like Smash, make you have to race against that character in a 1v1 before you get them.

I think it should be the same as Wii where you can either beat cups or play hundreds of races. Also, costumes could be unlocked by beating staff ghosts on certain courses. For example, snow tracks could unlock Christmas outfits.

I think it'd be really cool if they made cups out of the best tracks from each game. For example, we could get a cup called Dash Cup that features Baby Park, DK Mountain, Wario Colosseum, and Waluigi Stadium. And then we could also get a Wii Cup that features Coconut Mall, DK Summit, Grumble Volcano, and Maple Treeway.

That's what I'd like the most. Would be AMAZING if they brought back every track, but let's be real most tracks from Super Mario Kart & Mario Kart Super Circuit aren't that memorable. But they do have some tracks that would be cool to see remade like vanilla lake, sunset wilds, sky garden, and a few others. Almost every track from 64-8 were memorable though.

One thing that I want that I haven’t heard yet is an option to select specific items you don’t want to use in races similar to smash bro’s. The ability to have all items besides the blue shell, fire flower, or triple red would make the game much more competitive and fun. It would help the conpetitive scene grow without affecting the casual scene.

I doubt you can turn off coins though.. That way if you choose just blue shells or shocks, you would get a coin most of the time. But for standard items like shells and bananas and maybe even their triple versions would be available without having coins forced. Actually they could just remove coins so it's like past mk games...

Green Shells Triple Green Shells Droppable Bloopers (New item, behaves like blooper in crazy 8, touching it inks you) Fake Item Boxes Mushrooms Triple Mushrooms Boo Mushroom (New Item, behaves like boo except it lasts 7 seconds like star instead of 10, and doesn't steal item. It gives you a small boost similar to thunder cloud, for all 7 seconds) Tanooki Feather (From MK7) Cape Feather (Now available in all game modes, not just battle mode.) Super Horns Baby Thwomp (Acts like thwomp item in Mario Party 7, you throw it, and if a player goes underneath it, it flattens them. After it hits a player, it disappears) Other very reasonable items I'm forgetting. Uncommon items: Red Shells Bob-ombs Thunder Clouds (From MKWii) Boo (Because of boo mushroom, it no longer turns you invisible, it will only steal an item) Stars Bubble (From MKT) Bowser Shell Other Reasonable items I'm forgetting. Blooper Rare Items: Blue Shell (Current Blue Shell, slides across the grounds and bumps into players in it's path) Lightning Double Bob-ombs Bullet Bills Bullet Bills Launcher (Like MKT Bullet Bill Frenzy, where your in a bullet bill, and you launch other bullet Bill's ahead, but the bill launcher item won't let you go inside of them.) Chain Chomp Golden Blue Shell (Behaves like old blue shells, has wings and quickly speeds over to first in seconds. The explosion throws your character(s) in the air like MKDD! If it bumps into a player, it turns them into gold for a few seconds, similar to Freezie) Other OP items I'm forgetting.

MY wish list: #1: Bring back all the characters, maybe scrap the Non-Mario characters (Link, Villagers, Isabelle, Inklings...) #2: Have Time Trial VS (Refer to CTGP) where everyone has 3 mushrooms, and no collision. #3: NEW characters. And make them unique, I'm not having Sapphire Doctor Baby Rosalina. #4: NEW tracks. Have new areas, like a village, or a cave. #5: NEW items. Maybe have a Poison Mushroom, that can be thrown, like shells! They will shrink the opponent, no spinning out. #6: Bring back Missions! We want them back, and with a ranking system too. #7: Restore bikes to their Mario Kart Wii form! Functional Inside Drift, wheelies, But only Blue Mini Turbos. #8: 50-200cc. For each type of player. #9: A genuinely distant feeling Mario Kart 9. Not Mario Kart 8+, a whole new experience. Edit: So, there's been a LOT of discussion over whether or not bikes should return in the way they were in Mario Kart Wii. I'm not going to change anyone's stance, I'll just add something to the conversation. If Nintendo is going to make EVERYONE happy, then, at least for races, maybe there should be a "Bike Mode", wherein only bikes are permitted. I don't know if this will work for all players, but I think that it could add to the game. As P-Switch Break states, there's no fun in the same thing. But, hey, after all, I'm just some guy on the internet, so you think whatever you want!

I'm surprised that out of all the comparisons you made, not once did you mention Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled. That game did so much that pleased fans of both Crash Bandicoot and Kart Racers in general. I bet some Mario Kart fans swapped over to CTR because of how much it did right. Mario Kart really should take notes from that game - a couple of points were ones you already mentioned, like character skins/customization (seriously, why are they made as separate characters in MK8 and MKT?) and an Adventure Mode.

I actually have a few ideas for the game 1. Thunder cloud pass This is a battles gamemode and basically what it does is that you are on a team and 2 random people on either team will have the thunder cloud. What you need to do is to pass the thunder vloyd to the opposite team and the team with the last players win. 2. New characters. I actually dont mind all of the clone characters in mario kart tour because it keeps the game going with new characters. But for mario kart 9 I wanna see characters like king bobomb, whomp, kamek, goomba, spike, sludge bro aka the fat hammee bro, toadsworth, egadd, blooper and maybe cappy. I also wanna see more colur options for the toads and the koopas shells. 3. Leaderboards online. I wanna see the leaderboards online so I can see who has the most points. And maybeif you reach to a certain amount of points you unlock a character. 4. Make coins able to buy characters. This is in mario kart tour and its a ver good feature. Just have a shop where you can buy characters with coins. And I dont want to see lootboxes and rubies. 5. Items. For items I wanna see a black shell. It will go after a player and when it gets to you it explodes. Another thing I want is double bobombs. It will be epic to throw one in front and behind. Anither item I want is an apple pie. It is similar to a red shell but when it hits you it makes it hard to see and makes your car slower and slippery. This may sound weird but I feel that a cool thing to add would be that if all their character would have a trait unique to them as it would make you think about which character you should choose, without having to mess around with stats too much. For example, one character's trait could be that they get better speed boosts off tricks while another character's could be that they are able to use the third tier drift boost.

One of the main things I want to see in the next Mario Kart is for the vehicle/character customization to be more balanced in the way it was in MK7. In MK7, the vehicle parts played a much larger part in the stats of the combo rather than the character. If you wanted to be fast in predominantly water tracks, you'd pick stuff like the Egg 1/Pipe Frame and or the Wood wheels that all gave large bonuses to water performance. If you wanted offroad performance, you'd pick Monster tires, Barrel Train if you wanted to focus on mini turbos, Roller wheels for handling, Soda Jet for glider based maps, Slick for speed, etc. MK7's part balance wasn't entirely perfect (looking at you Monster tires) but every part had their checks and balances for the most part. Slick tires had a huge advantage on tracks with long straight ways and few turns like Luigi's Raceway for example but they'd struggle to stay ahead of the pack on tracks with lots of turns like Waluigi Pinball or on offroad and water based tracks such as Rosalina's Ice World and Cheep Cheep Lagoon and god forbid you get caught on Neo Bowser City while you're using Slick tires on an all out speed focused combo. In MK8, the bonuses you get for using specific parts catered to one of the terrain types are extremely small while the bulk of your bonuses comes from your character's weight class instead. The heavier a character gets, the faster they are in all 5 terrain types present in MK8 which isn't the case for MK7 where lighter characters had areas of the tracks where they could briefly out maneuver their heavier counterparts such as in the water. Having more checks and balances between the stats makes the online world more diverse as there will be people who want to focus on their combo being good at specific things other than just speed vs handling.

My idea for Mario Kart 9 would be a new kart transformation. Race tracks will have these little shortcuts that you can take. These will be in the form of rail tracks, when a kart drives onto them the wheels will change into metal and basically lose the rubber part. The kart wheels emit sparks while driving on them. These tracks may vary on each course, some have split fork paths which you can choose which one to take by leaning your kart left or right. Others will have speed boosters on them that make the kart go faster if you choose the right path. These tracks can be looped in crazy shapes that the karts can twirl around on until they make it to the bump ramp on the end where they can do a trick jump off of. Shells can also ride on the paths too, green shells will choose a random direction of the path while red shells and blue shells are smart enough to choose the path that reaches it's target and they also smart enough to enter the rail tracks from the road if the target is driving on them.

We can get some returning powerups like the Mega Mushroom and the POW Block along with some new powerups like the Mini Mushroom which makes you undetected by red shells and immune to lightning. I have another idea for Mario Kart 9. There is a race where you start with Mario or another character. When you finish a lap, the character changes into another character with maybe another Kart. The race ends, when you cross the finish line with the other character. I love this idea and I want to see this in the next Mario Kart game.

I know you said you’re not crazy with guest characters, but the inclusion of Pac-Man and other Namco arcade characters is a must have. It’s mostly Pac-Man for me, but you get the idea. Also the double kart idea could be like the fusion kart from arcade gp DX, but the attacker can switch the item it shoots out, so it doesn’t always have to be just green shells.

I have an idea for the next Mario Kart, tell me what you guys think in the replies there should be a shop for pallet swaps/skins for characters (e.g : fire mario, propeller suit luigi, Doctor Mario, shadow Mario, Dry bowser, wedding suit bowser, bowser Jr with mask on etc.) You can purchase them with coins that have been collected in races (the amount at the end of a race is what you would receive) . This would give more of a reason for coins to be in the game (other than a small boost). However the coins would only be counted in grand prix and online mode to stop people from easily farming in time trial and vs modes. Kart parts could still be unlocked from getting to a certain coin milestone but should also be distributed throughout the rest of the game (playing a certain amount of battle matches, beating an expert time trial ghost, beating a level on mission mode, which should come back, in a certain amount of time) The skins can range in price from 40 - 100 coins, depending on quality (e.g fire luigi can be 40 as its simplistic while tennis waluigi can be 60 coins, biker wario can be 80 coins and shadow mario can be 100 coins). This means that in theory, the highest quality of pallet swaps can be achieved in 10 races (if you have max coins at the end of each race). This would not apply to earnable pallet swaps (Gold Mario) or simplistic colour swaps (Yoshis or Shy Guys), also koopa troopa should have a blue and red shell option and toad having a yellow, blue and green option. This means that even if the game only has around 48 characters, there would feel like there is 100 - 150 characters and not every character has to have a skin or a pallet swap, (e.g birdo)

Honestly, there are only 3 things I ask of from Mario Kart 9: 1. Do away with the Coin item. Its a massive blowhole in playing defensive in 1st, & makes frontrunning utter hell. 2. Have team races/battles between more than 2 teams, ie 4v4v4, 3v3v3v3, etc. 3. Have a "Relay Race" mode, where each member of a team will race a lap, then the next member does a lap, & so on until the target number of laps has been completed.

ive said this in another mk9 suggestion video but it feels fitting here as special items are mentioned id much rather see characters getting special attributes or item variations than complete special items. these could include things like yoshi using eggs instead of green shells which can bounce more before breaking, dk having bigger bananas, inklings leaving a bit of ink behind them that slows other people, villagers can hold a few coins more. that way it doesnt destroy balance so easily and can add strategy for people that care while it doesnt matter much for casual players.

So my ideas to build on yours include: 1. Bring back double karts, but as a vehicle option instead of a separate mode. 2. New Characters. Mario and DK: Pauline, Kamek, Geno, Birdo, Diddy, Dixie, King K. Rool. Other Nintendo IP: Captain Falcon, Zelda, Pikachu, Samus. This is probably not going to happen, but if Pacman can join because of Mario Kart Arcade GP, then I kinda wanna see Sonic. Again that's unlikely, but not impossible. 3. Coins could be used to buy custom parts for your cars. 4. Make your own tracks. 5. Complete Car customization. Think Team Sonic Racing, but good. 6. Not sure about this one, but what if as well as having karts, bikes, ATV's, and Double karts, we could also have planes that can be used for a different experience on the track. 7. Drills was an old concept for MK8 where the racer can go underground on command. I would bring that in. 8. Track ideas include New Donk, a futuristic racetrack, Hyrule from BOTW, the moon, and a space station (something like MK8 rainbow road, but with less rainbows, and more inside sections.) 9. Yoshi as a vehicle.(This is cool if you think about it)

My big idea for the main mechanic of a Mario Kart 9 was that racers would drive on a track as normal, then they would reach a certain point, hit a ramp or portal and the racers would flip around and drive the courses in reverse, with new challenges and changes added when they flip. They would progress to a certain point, hit another ramp or portal, and flip back to finish the lap. Not the best idea but that's my concept.

The section where you talked about the new characters. I had the exact same list i wanted. And i would like a HP mode where you can lose HP from items and if you have 0 HP you become a ghost and your placement in the race will be from when you got knocked out even if you get 1st in ghost mode

Great video! I personally don’t like the scoring system in MKT, but if it was a separate mode where you focus on points rather than first place, no complaints there. I just wouldn’t want it as the primary focus. Also, I’m not sure if this would work, but a mode in Mario kart that’s similar to kirby air ride would be awesome! I love that game and I doubt there will be a sequel, so mario kart would have to take the reigns for that one.
