And losing a child is so incredibly painful. I lost my oldest son 4 years ago just 3 days before his 54th birthday…he was also born in 1965. So smart, such a wonderful person. My son’s name was also Richard….James Richard. He worked his way through college, became a CPA immediately after college. His death is still an open homicide investigation. He owned his own accounting firm in Allen, Texas. I miss him so very, very much.

It is so great to see all institutions working together honestly and sincerely to see that justice is done and the victim's family gets a closure. I am an Indian and am sorry to say that this almost never happens in my country. Bribing and counter-bribing; pilferage, tampering, and destruction of evidence by the investigating agencies themselves; incompetence; and everything that can muck up a case all come together invariably in almost every case so that no one ever gets any justice. Citizens who are hoping for something from the justice system just waste decades of their time, money, energy, and resources getting nothing in the end. This case took under two years; it would not get solved here in 20 years. Here, Christopher would be told that the police had found the car and let him decide what he wanted to do about it: For a little bit of bribe (say 500 Pounds), Chris would be allowed to go burn the vehicle and come back to the police station!!! For a little bit more, police would themselves do it for him!!!

It works in reverse also. I often watch the evening news of a well-known Caribbean island, and it astounds me how many people there appear to get away with murder, either because they are considered physically attractive or are of a high socio-economic status and therefore well-connected. Other times it's gullibility, laziness and/or incompetence on the part of investigators; a heavy case load also adds to it. If a dead male prostitute was found in a politically -connected person's expensive home, then the investigation would stall for years and likely never solved. In one incident just the person posting on social media how distraught he was was about the death of a group of family members was enough for him to walk free, despite the fact that his account of what happened would change depending on what turned up, and so he would often backtrack/contradict himself, and the investigators saw nothing suspicious about it.

If the instructions of the solicitor are to answer "no comment" to any question, follow those instructions! If you're already under arrest everything you say can be used against you, so don't say anything! If the matter proceeds to court, defence counsel will present your case. How many actual innocent people were naive enough to believe that the truth would keep them out of prison.

As she said no mother expects a child to leave this world before them. I know that feeling very well. What a wicked man, planning his loving wife's death while living a normal life with her. My heart really goes out to her family as not only did they have to deal with grief of losing Collette they also had to grieve the loss of who they thought was a wonderful husband to Collette

Evil man, after 16 years of marriage and his affair , he then falsifies an insurance policy in her name and then runs her down and kills her. Her family did not believe he could do such a thing to their daughter, how wrong they were. Such a lovely family and Colettes poor mother my heart broke for her. I have a grown-up daughter and understand what her mum means by her daughter and best friend. I hope he rots in hell and I hope Colettes family eventually find some peace.

Amazing witnesses, without them he could have quite easily got away with murder. The police were on the ball, brilliant police work. Then again 25years for premeditated murder. Should have been a life term. God bless Colette's children and family RIP 🙏🏻❤️🌹❤️🙏🏻

I noticed when he kissed her at the altar he kept his arms down by his sides. The mountain biking officer was so respectful when speaking about where Colette came to rest. What I don't understand though is why out of the 66 vehicles in the area they didn't spot the one registered to Chris Daffin? RIP Colette x

Because he bought it under an assumed name and never re-registered it.

Bless you Collette's mother, I was a social worker in Chesterfield and my son was born there, so I know the area well. May your beautiful daughter rest in peace. Too bad there isn't a death penalty is all I can say for that lowlife.

But, thankfully, on a much SMALLER scale than here in the States. We have something seriously wrong here. And the guns don't help the situation.

Only 25 years? Here in Florida, USA, he would have probably gotten the death penalty , if not, life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Same in Canada life= 25 years and criminals are released earlier for good conduct😮

The Death Penalty is all about Revenge and not Punishment, glad we dont have it in Europe, its been proven time and time again that the Death Penalty is not a deterrent, the Murder rate in Florida for example is a national disgrace, just like Ron Desantis. 😒
@andream2110 Жыл бұрын
Hardly a deterrent is it ?
@aimaradiaz1840 Жыл бұрын
@@andream2110 the thing is that if you take the life of someone premeditated and in such a cruel way, you don’t deserve to live. Now, remember , America is a huge country, almost the size of Western Europe. So yes, you will hear in the news more about this type of murders.

So sad, done out of pure greed. He was an abuser, a financial abuser, and they are capable of anything. Sometimes it’s worse because they are so secretive and calculating. So sorry for her family, it’s destroys your trust in people.
