It goes to show you can never know someone too well and sadly we are sometimes ( I’m not suggesting Pat was naive or anything like that) b quite trusting so there are times we let certain people in our lives almost without prompt for ( if not all) of us we want to ( especially when we’re growing up) make new friends maybe meet a future partner ( spouse) and sometimes we maybe a bit gullible and we unwittingly let our guard down and want to feel part of a community and meet new people etc Xx

This chilling true murder story is a stark reminder of the darkness that can lurk behind seemingly friendly faces. Patricia Goodband's trust in her business partner and friend, who she welcomed into her home and entrusted with her assets, led to a horrifying betrayal. The greed-driven act of taking her life to gain access to her valuable property and cash is truly disturbing. May this video serve as a cautionary tale about the importance of being cautious in our relationships and safeguarding our well-being. Let's remember Patricia and thank the authorities for doing the best job to catch the cold-blooded killer and let him taste the correct justice.

RIP Patricia, I get the feeling you were hurt by certain people and it made you 'singular' to avoid being hurt any more! I just keep thinking over and over again, do we ever really know anyone, or is it only the 'me' they let us know? I think there were underlying issues between this lady and her daughter as the daughter seemed to be unmoved talking about her dead, murdered dead mother. When your children grow up I don't understand why they don't go home to see their parent/s. Lord please save me from no one caring enough about me as I'm already feeling it as visits get longer and longer in between each one and I don't understand why!

There are sometimes reasons children are estranged from mothers. My husband hasn't had contact with his mother now for nearly 4 years, she left him when he was 4, she is very materialistic, asked us when I was pregnant with our first sone if we'd thought about an abortion! I could go on, when our son was born my husband realised what she'd walked out on and he couldnt get over it. He says, I just imagine what our boys would be like if you walked out, and it destroys him. Some scars don't heal.

How terribly heartbreaking. Initially I thought maybe Pat knew she was in the early stages of Alzheimers or brain cancer bc of her mood changes, withdrawal from friends/family and changes to her will and that perhaps she'd asked her friend Chris to help her compassionately end her own life. But clearly Chris was a horrible monster pulling a long con. Thankfully the detectives were diligent in their investigation.

Older women appear to be very vulnerable to these types of crimes. Driven by loneliness, loyalty and other emotions, they find themselves in precarious situations. Communication is imperative, and staying close to family. Pat should have taken in a couple of boarders. Also, do NOT lend anyone money! This old coot was acting like he was 30, carrying on with other women. The domestic violence tweaked their relationship to his favor, so he had control over Pat. Still, intervention and communication is so necessary!!

As an older widow. We are much more vulnerable to narcissist as, there aren't enough older men and our kids have their own children, jobs and lives. Most of our friends are dead and we get lonely. The key is....always have a couple friends or close family and communicate honestly with them regularly. Tell those closest to you if someone is spending your money, lives in your house or is controlling. Don't be ashamed or embarrassed. Never EVER let anyone know you have money or insurance they can't get.

From personal experiences I would reject Narcissism as Chris' personality disorder. He lived & behaved as a psychopath. His triple secret lives. Shows calculated deceit. His easy manipulations of both the other man and Pat and her daughter. Narcissists seek status and admiration also deceitful and manipulative. Generally not on the same level as psychopaths. These can kill. Narcissists want to destroy your spirit and mind. Pat really had only a small handful of really concerned interested friends. I'm very glad Chris was caught. They usually believe they outsmart everyone

I was surprised to hear that her daughter spoke to her mom only once a month and was fine being told not to come over. I don't understand though. He buried her so well and spun the story that she had gone off and disappeared. I understand that you are not allowed to start disposing of assets without a death certificate. And in missing person cases a death certificate can't be issued for 7 years. Yet he was talking about immediately moving to Sandbanks presumably with the £800,000 he would inherit. If the police hadn't made such an effort she never would have been found in which case he would have had a long wait! Does that make sense?

It’s plainly obvious that the daughter is revelling in her mother’s demise. She is clearly smiling and laughing in every interview and talks like looks like she’s taking part in a feast and salivating over every morsel of her poor mothers suffering. The reason? Jealous of her lovely talented mothers life and with a n attitude like that she will always be a loser. She’s glad her mother died because she couldn’t bear to see her happy and hated the thought that her mother had a life . She was thrilled that the money didn’t go to the guy because she wanted it and resented him standing in the way of her getting the lot!!! She murdered her mother with her evil personality and set up the chain of events that ultimately killed her. The way she was murdered would have given her much satisfaction as she gloatingly spoke. The doctor was the best judge of character. That horror was a predator and probably groomed then forced her into the relationship. She couldn’t tell anybody because she was afraid of him. A manipulative lying womanising greedy, threatening murderous murder is the end result of violence imagine living with that evil monsters. The daughter is just like him. I hope shgets nothing for her trouble. Did anyone see any tears , compassion, anger, questions, No ! . Sadly the person who wrote in defense of the daughter needs ??? I’m speechless! The most weird thing. No love, sympathy, compassion for anyone. Poor, poor Pat. And don’t forget the vile monsters tried to get everyone to believe she had dementia!!!!!!! Those of you who make excuses for the daughter should take this as a warning to be aware of these predators or it will be your turn next. I live 400 km away from my parent´s and we are still close. I call them at least 2 time´s a week. They aren´t that old yet( mum 58 and dad 62) and can cope but i love them and would do anything for them. I´m really lucky to have loving family. No violence, abuse or substance abuse problem´s. We didn´t had a lot of money, but lot of love and laughter. Me, my sister and my parent´s are always been close.

I don't know people's relationships but the daughter seems a bit distant. My mum lived more than 3000 miles from me in another country, and we spoke daily, every single day regardless. If my mum said I shouldn't visit, I would push very hard to know what's the problem. If my mum went on a random train journey without telling anyone, I wouldn't wait until tomorrow, I'd be there looking for her instantly.
