ABOUT: 🔻
NINGEN ISU (which translates to "The Human Chair") is a Japanese three-piece hard rock band. In 1987, the band was formed by Shinji Wajima (Guitar & Vocals) and Kenichi Suzuki (Bass & Vocals), who were classmates in the same high school in Aomori Prefecture in the northern area of Japan.
INamahage -- A traditional folk event that takes place every mid-winter in Akita prefecture in Tohoku (North East) area of Japan. The frightfully masked men “Namahage” visit people's homes.

Super! Great reaction! Ningen Isu translates as "The Human Chair", which is the title of a Japanese horror story from the 1920's. They often cite Black Sabbath as being their main influence. There are loads of parallels between the bands. Black Sabbath took their band name from the title of a 1960's Boris Karloff horror movie, called "Black Sabbath". The singer/songwriter/lead guitarist, Shinji Wagima plays the same guitar that Tony Iommi made famous, a Gibson SG. In fact, Shinji even has as a prized possession a personally autographed Tony Iommi Gibson SG! You can hear the influence in almost all of their songs. It's great that you had your closed caaption turned on for the lyrics translation. They almost always provide an English translation subtitling on their videos, so if you hit your closed caption button on your screen, you should always get translated lyrics. :) Shinji and the bass player, who are both now in their early 60's, have been friends since high school. It's my understanding that the bass player is also a big fan of Gene Simmons, the bass player for KISS, which is partially where the ides of makeup he wears comes from.

👹 Same mythology as BABYMETAL's 'Catch Me If You Can' (2013). Namahage are Oni, which are something like ogres or trolls. This song is off of Ningen Isu's 2014 album 'Burai Houjou' (Fertility Of License). Of course these guys give it their own special spin.

Namahage is not English but Japanese. It is not Namahaji (fresh shame) but Namahage, a messenger of the gods in the Tohoku region of Japan.

Ningen isu is Japanese, not English. It's not Ninjinn isu (carrot chair), it's Ningen isu (human chair).
