When Yuni is "hitting" Soni, she isn't exactly harming him. She's actually warming up to him, getting more playful. That's why Soni became energetic, he responds to her playfulness.

Animal behavior is cool. The reason she hissed at him was simple: In nature, where there are babies, there is an angry mother. It was documented often, that in groups of animals in the same species, the adults know well to avoid babies. Even social animals like cats and primates know not to get near a baby, because the mother normally is not far enough away to not pose a threat. Its weird, because most adult know how to deal with other adults on a level basis, i.e. a meeting of cats, and a strange one walks through, it is clear cut no aggression, a hiss or acceptance. But aggression towards a baby is met with swift retribution. So normal its much safer for an adult cat to "shoo" away a baby, unless they want to feel the wrath of the mother.

@@tomgjgj the same theory can also apply to humans too. I noticed it when I first had taken my kids to the park. The mothers would sit around the toddler part of the park and socialize, and here I am a large, tall man having to luggage carry twin hyperactive two year olds because they decided to once out of the car seats to make a beeline for the street, because there was the ice cream lady on the sidewalk on the other side. So these ladies see me with bag over shoulder and a girl under each arm because daddy got fed up with the stroller and had an "eff it" moment, walking up to the toddler park and instantly all eyes on me. So after about twenty minutes of watching my kids adapt to other kids, it was snack time, and of course daddy had the good snacks, so this little girl kept doing that non verbal "gimme" gesture when i was doling out teddy grahams and apple juice. I only brought enough for my kids, cause Daddy's paycheck does not allow him to feed every kid my kids makes friends with. So I noticed her mother preparing the typical "quick sandwich" (all parents know this recipe, because its just bringing the ingredients and prepping it there. Also please don't flame me about not just making the sandwiches beforehand, because twin toddlers do not allow you to take the time to make sandwiches early. because they literally will make you hunt each one down to keep them from harm.) so I politely shoo her back to her mom, by telling her to go have lunch with her mommy. One mother got mad at me, because apparently im supposed to feed everyone. The girls mom got annoyed at the situation because shes like come on, im making her food right now. so yeah, momma instincts are very well documented in mammals. P.S. I asked a zoologist who I went to college with about it to make sure im not saying anything inaccurate, she confirmed my comment and added "It is also due to the fact that some males will attempt to eat the babies, just to make sure she bears his. so evolution made it so mothers will never stray too far from where their children are, unless she is absolutely sure that there is no danger present. I noticed that with my cat after her first litter, she would not leave her "nest" until they were all deep asleep and they were safe. She also chased her mate away from her nest often also. So its not out of malice, but survival.

Its okay to let yuni hit soni a little. She didn't hit with her nail. Yuni seems calm to me eventhough she hisses. Its common for cat to hiss at new encounter cause cat are territorial animal.

I love cats, have had rescue cats my whole life but seeing people purposely breed Munchkins because they're "cute" bugs the schite out of me. the "cute" short legs are a deformity that often lead to various joint and spine issues their whole lives. oh and the ear fold? a deformity in the cartilage that also BONUS can affect that connective cartilage in other places also leading to painful existences for these cats. not trying to be a hater but selective breeding for short legs, or smashed faces, or folded ears is nothing but vanity on the human's part without consideration to the quality of life of these cats.

Have two 8 years old cats. Had to get a kitten for one due to him having separation issues while other visit vet every couple weeks. He took one look at the kitten on day one and said " you are my kitten and baby". The two have been together for about a year now and he still loves the kitten. Has helped him to be honest as the other 8 year old doesn't like to play anymore.
