It's what they want in my opinion. It was as consistent as ever before the combats came out. Then when they made the combat so OP and people wanted pumps back, I knew then that they would bring the pumps back out 'pre buff'. So they were back to being as inconsistent as ever and normal service is resumed. They need that inconsistency to give lower skilled players that glimmer of hope, why do you think bloom is a thing... for exactly that. It sucks 100%, but the cycle never changes. They will never indefinitely 'fix' shotguns.

They fixed pumps for a short glorious time before they brought combats out. Since then it's what we've always known. Zero consistency. They probably want that element of luck in a shotgun fight, same concept as bloom.

@@mrfahrenheit677 Unfortunately you've taken my comment to the extreme end, I never suggested damage was random no matter what shot you hit. I said there was an 'element' of luck in shotgun fights. That element being actually what we see in this video, on another day that shotgun shot placed in the exact same place whilst hip firing and moving, the randomisation of the 'spread' of the bullet would have resulted in a different amount of damage. When you consider the actual game mechanics, that's a fact. It's not a conspiracy, Epic aren't out here denying stuff like that. You want me to go back and look (not too sure what at lol), but maybe you should go back and look. The red dots of where the shards hit him are random within the bloom zone, that is why it's such an unlikely amount of damage. I'm not crying about this stuff happening to me haha because I understand the way it works. And that's all I was pointing out in this post, along with my opinion on why Epic do it. I'm not bitching about my experience in game, it's my opinion on methods Epic likely employ in such an incredibly popular game with such vast differences in player skill. I never suggested there was no skill involved, obviously players with better aim on average hit more shots, what I am saying is (with shotguns in particular) there is a lot more scope for what damage you can hit regardless of how good the aim is (because of the randomisation of the bullet spread). I don't see it as any different to bloom being a part of the game, which essentially is the same thing. That random element is part of the game and no two ways about it. Bloom by default is random, if they didn't want that effect then they would simply add gun recoil.

But then when someone else has a pump, they’ll hit from at least 5-7 meters away and get 100+ damage. The pump is literally the most inconsistent weapon we’ve seen in Fortnite history.
