There are a lot of ways to cook rice. Also, there are tons of types. We just did basic steamed calrose rice for this video just to make a general comparison. If you liked this video, you might like this pressure cooker steamed rice tutorial as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4Snh6l4nLVog9U

Great Topic! I just got my 1st rice cooker 2wks ago. My first cook was whole grain Emmer Farro, never been able to cook this stuff. Used 3 to 1 water to grain and it was teeth cracking. Mfgr recommended delay cook brn rice 6hr min. Gave 6hr delay and changed ratio to 6 to 1. This is a 4c machine but it worked. Because so much water the cook time was about 2 1/2+hrs and the heater timed out. Restart the machine for 2nd cycle and wheat was perfect. My cooker was recommended by ATK and is an Aroma ARC914SBD. So much you can do with these machines, on steam mode you can sauté in an oiled pan to brown meat, reset for rice cooking rice in same pan while steaming meat in steam tray. Was very good. May I recommend a review on the new Aroma Induction Rice Cooker ARC7604. I just ordered one today but would like to see your review. Keep on Cookin'.

Thanks for this useful comparison! My air fryer needs replacement and the cost for a 4 L air fryer from a reasonably known brand is half of this versatile Ninja cooker, so I'm considering getting the Ninja instead, which may also help declutter my worktop currently occupied by a rice cooker, a pressure cooker, a breadmaker and an air fryer. Your evaluation is reassuring. However, I'm a bit concerned with cleaning the SmartLid, especially with its complex inner structure. Did you find it difficult to clean, with potential bubbles from cooking rice and spatters from oily food on the reversible rack closer to the lid?

Hey! Thanks for watching. Glad it helped you out a bit. Yes, that countertop space is a pretty big deal. I still use my rice cooker to do the rice, but I dont leave it out on the counter. The pressure cooker had a permentant spot though due to all that other stuff it can do. I did a cleaning video about that that might address your concern. Here is the link. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2jPnKZ3lJZqd9E

Unrelated. Could you show us how you make stock in the Ninja? I have my own method but it probably isn't the best. Thanks.

What’s the max amount of rice you can put in the ninja pressure cooker
@JoesPhenomenal
@JoesPhenomenal Жыл бұрын
The most I've personally every put in there is about 5 cups. The more you have in there, the trickier it is to pressure cook since you have to really watch the amount of water that goes in to maintain enough to get the pressure cooking working. I found that using the steam function instead works a bit better and makes it act a lot more like a traditional rice cooker. Takes a little longer though.

I have the zirjoji rice cooker and it takes an hour for 1 cup.. that 15 minutes is awesome. I wonder how come your rice cooker is so much faster than mine
@JoesPhenomenal
@JoesPhenomenal 2 жыл бұрын
Well.. the 15 mins is the pressure cooker. My rice cooker is at about 40 or so.

whne you say that for the pressure cooker you're gonna use 1:1 ratios do you mean by weight or by volume? european here :)) 1 cup of water = ± 240g and 1 cup of rice = ±200g
@JoesPhenomenal
@JoesPhenomenal Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry... By volume. My mistake... We do everything weird over here. Haha.
@StefanDan85
@StefanDan85 Жыл бұрын
@@JoesPhenomenal it's not weird it's just not very accurate:))) you have ±1/5 of difference weight to volume between water and rice - the problem is that ratio is different between any other random ingredients because of density. i was just trying to figure out if i should get the ninja foodi because i have quite a small kitchen- i have a good deal on the op500 non smart lid (100$) and i'm trying to figure out if i should save for the fancy one

They're both really good.... I like the smartlid version more just so I don't have to find a place for the other lid, but other than that, they are really similar.

@JoesPhenomenal
@JoesPhenomenal 8 күн бұрын
Did it 2 different ways at 2 different times... if you mess with the pressure setting and the amount of time, there's a lot of wiggle room... was messing around to see if one way would be faster than the other.
