When I first saw the announcement, I was like "Oh boy another Soulslike... and then I saw the footage. I am very, very, stoked to play Ninja Gaiden the way it was meant to.

I saw the trailer and was super hype, it looks great to me. But I actually enjoy the originals and the 3D titles. I also am not bothered by pixel art in the slightest, I like it when it's done well. But it is sad seeing fans bashing it solely because of it's 2D side scrolling nature. Like I could get it if they want a main line high budget entry in the franchise. But this clearly isn't that, it's probably going to be $30, $10-15 when it goes on sale. Saying your desire for a new 3D title doesn't mean you have to trash this one. That being said I do hope it isn't a metroidvania style game, I'd also like to see Hayate get some spotlight outside of just the DOA franchise. But I will say to me it looks like fun. I will be picking it up.

Even aside the return to its roots, simply having a new entry in the Ninja Gaiden games is HUGE, and might get the licence back on track. Because, aside from the compilation/collection, from what I am reading, the last actual Ninja Gaiden game was Yaiba, which was a spin off and came out 10 years ago. This is ostensibly a lower budget game than a full on 3D entry, made by an indie studio that already demonstrated they are great at making 2D games. It might be used as a way to gauge interest in the licence, or maybe it is a passion project for them, but in any case, this is new (seemingly good) Ninja Gaiden content in years, it should be a joyous occasion !

@@secondlifestuffs I thought everyone would be happy to see it return cause I personally swore it was done after Nioh blew up so this is a sick ass surprise for me lol if Capcom can bring back Onimusha and Okami, we can definitely see another 3D Ninja Gaiden game especially if we getting a 2D one

As much as i love tomonobu itagaki... His games were not flawless miracles. Even veterans who've done all of the weapon runs for the achievements on 360 can attest to that. As for the lead protagonist in this new 2D ninja gaiden, i personally wish they casted hayate instead of this new disciple of the hayabusa clan, which i think is what is really upsetting the millennials and gen z brats. This game however, does not give me hope for the development of nioh 3, in fact, KT's newest engine for dynasty warrior's origin does. KT also is the parent company of Team Ninja, something to take into consideration since it's one of the few studios left on this planet that isn't brigaded by pathetic politics. Dare i knock on wood.

@BboySquidfoot Hayate would've been awesome! Either that or Sanji, since Sanji was already Ryu's mini-me, it seemed. Both characters were already established in lore. Honestly, one of the most common complaints I've seen is one someone already hit this video with. The whole Metroidvania feel of it. And no, the reboot series was not perfect at all. It's just what I personally grew up with since I didn't have access to the original games back then. All the drama/judgment aside, I hope this is a stepping stone for NG to be one of the greats again. While I do have my grievances about Ragebound, I'm more hopeful than something like Yaiba, for instance.

I dont understand your point. The studio isn't catering to the majority of fans because most do not care about a 2d side scroller. They can make what they want and the fans can choose not to buy it. I personally think it will flop. Just hoping they can at least break even on the project.

@rttrtt1374 So, the point I made, if you watched the video, is pretty much what you just said. They made this and not a 3D game, which is what more people want. We didn't get that kind of game. Instead, we got this. I never once went at the devs for making the game they wanted to make.. I don't see your point. But alas, I agree. I hope this brings a positive dent into the NG franchise. The main point of the video is basically to just not complain based on assumptions. I'm waiting personally until the game comes out of we get substantial information for my complaints as I don't believe this is a main NG title. If it is, I'll call myself out for it.

I don't believe it will flop, simply because they are the same devs that made Blasphemous and both games were mostly successful.

I can't stand the nostalgia bait with the pixelated artwork. They could have made a 2D sidescroller with pretty artwork. why purposefully make it look crusty and old? Only to trigger nostalgia in the 40+ yo gamers that buy these games. The art should have been looking like the custscenes.

I will agree that the art style is something I am personally growing tired of as it's over done time and time again. Same with the PS1 film grainy style for like 75% of indie horror games. It's done because it's easy, I feel.

I mean, that is pretty subjective, calling this crusty looking. I get not liking this art style, but the Blasphemous games from the same devs were pretty beautiful with a lot of details put into them, so I'll wait to see more before complaining.

has it been said it was a Metroidvania in any way ? I genuinely don't know, and if it is, I am not a big fan. Not because I dislike Metroidvania (I love them and I loved Blasphemous) but because I feel a Ninja Gaiden game should work better as a more straightforward action/platformer 2D game. But from the trailer, the levels felt more action packed and linear than Metroidvania-like, and the tags on the game page on Steam seem to confirm it. If it has not been confirmed it is a Metroidvania, then you.....are basically just complaining and talking out of your a** without knowing, just assuming stuff. And it is ridiculous.
