Awesome gameplay! I was directed here by HacknSlashMB when I brought up the Kusari-Gama in one of his God of War videos. When I was a kid (age 12), I picked Kusari-Gama as my martial arts kata against advisement because it was cool and I was really into action movies (never give a preteen choice). I did a lot of practice at home because I was told I would never master it (I never did) and that using a pair of them is d^mn near impossible for even a master. So, I did my best at the time to use two to show off with my friends... and yes, lots of embarrassing chain tangling. I digress. First, awesome that the final fight was with my nostalgic weapon of choice of my youth. Thank you. Second, is there a point that an awesome superhuman ninja like Ryo can use two of them? Third, the paired swords... they look like katanas. Are they an actual pair of katanas or are they like the real paired blades, the daisho set (two blades, a long and a short one, similar to the samurai pairing of katana and wakizashi)? Fourth, I love how modern Ninja Gaiden is superior in one aspect of the side-scroller of my day... you can keep and select your weapons instead of making it your only one. Fifth, I love what this game evolved into but I am now too old to play them so... thanks for the gaming videos that allow people like me to enjoy them like movies.

My 1st theory was that the 2nd hit of the string had to slash at least 2 people. But then later I did the whirlwind spin on just 1 guy i had countered. I'm Confused man lol

Hi, I've always asked this question and no one seems to be able to answer it. On time stamp 20:33 how do you perform that whirlwind spin after the first counter hit. The "X" button counter with the Dragon Sword has 2 variations. U did the 2nd right there. How? What commands can you do to pull it off?

Its just the Y counter.

@@grogismycopilot4880 no the Y counter is the izuna drop. The X button counter leads to the slash through the enemy. But either he slashes with 1 strike. Or he slashes with the jumping spin i mentioned. Hitting multiple enemies

@@9cboomer720 from my experience ryu does a single slash after the initial counter when an enemy is right in front of him. If the enemy isn't there the second part of the counter is that spin move. I'm not sure if you can trigger it intentionally, maybe I'll give it a shot.

@@9cboomer720 ok I tried and I think I'm right. I'm pretty confident because this isn't the only counter where ryu defaults to something else. If you x counter with the talons or the kg and the enemy isn't properly lined up ryu defaults to the y counter. The dragon sword seems to be a special case for this as it applies to the second hit instead of the first and instead of doing the y counter he does the third attack in the yyy string. Hopefully that answers your question. Edit: turns out the third attack for yyy and the second part of the x counter are exactly the same move. If no ones in front of you during the third hit of yyy ryu defaults to the backward slash that you normally see in the counter.

@@MrMagic159 yes that does. Preciate the persistence. I was messing around with it. To confirm that theory. Too. Also I believe its a stronger variant for when you counter the purple vangels he does it even though its just one vangel as well.
