The Keurig & the ninja works good for a year if you're lucky. Then you have to pamper them to get them to work. One thing I like better about the ninja is it accepts more pods than the Keurig does. Meaning you don't ever get the message saying the pods not compatible. But for health reasons you probably are better off with the French press. I'm thinking about going that route myself, more reliable.

A bigger health concern is raising your cholesterol levels by drinking unfiltered coffee. French press or any coffee not brewed through a paper filter contains diterpenes kahweol and cafestol which are essentially fats that can raise your LDL (bad cholesterol). This is something I dealt with while drinking French press coffee and had to switch back to paper filtered coffee which catches and filters out these two lipids. I also prefer to drink coffee that hasn't gone through a plastic machine but options are limited. The only other option is the use of a pour over with a paper filter.

@ADKWOODS if your health is so atrocious that drinking unfiltered coffee raises your cholesterol it’s time to reevaluate EVERYTHING
@ADKWOODS21 күн бұрын
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer My health is just fine and thank you for caring. I'm perfectly fit and eat very well. However unfiltered coffee did raise my cholesterol and by using a paper filter it brought it back down.
@TheLastHonestInfluencer21 күн бұрын
Can’t be. I’ve never even heard of unfiltered coffee raising anyone’s cholesterol levels before. Just looked up the medical literature on it to verify, many doctors and specialists say this is false, there’s hardly any oil in the beans and that a paper filter has all kinds of chemicals in it that are even worse for you. 100% certain French press is healthier. You must be eating too much bacon or cheese or something.

I was about to buy this coffee maker when I saw the first few minutes of your video. I was pretty annoyed but I sat and thought about it for a few days and as much as I wanted to buy it I realized you're right. But that also leads me to believe most drip coffee makers are likely made of mostly plastic internal parts? So I'm now pivoting to an all stainless steel percolator. I really hate using the press. Any other thoughts on possible coffee makers that aren't just liquid plastic?
@TheLastHonestInfluencer5 ай бұрын
I hear you man, the press is a real bugger to clean. Stainless perc is kinda the same. I did cowboy coffee for a while (grinds in a David’s tea tea strainer, that kinda works but reverted back to the giant French so I can drink 2L per day with relative ease. Hope you find your non plastic ‘Cinderella slipper’ glass or metal percolator! Thanks for your comment.
@mtaylor90554 ай бұрын
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer you were right, the percolator sucked even with the filters. But I tried using the french press afterward and used the percolator filters (wet the filter onto the french press plunger thing) and it eliminates grounds in the cup and makes it a bit easier to clean. Thought you might be interested in trying it.

I'm older now and had plastic bottles, cups, bowls, and all of it and still kicking. It's jsut another thing they are trying to grab on to, to explain poor eating habits, lack of exercise, all the poisons they put in our foods, etc. Worry less about plastics and more about additives in food and how they are processed.

@TheLastHonestInfluencerАй бұрын
Great point! The kettle is made from cheap crappy aluminum with plastic pieces so I’m sure it’s horrible as well. I had a glass one that broke, but it had a plastic top and thin metal bottom too. Probably the ‘safest’ way to boil is in a full metal kettle on the stove top. That’s slow though.

Ninja products do look pretty fancy. However, I'm with you - we need to cut down on all the plastics in our environment. Just thinking about all the plastic contamination in that one cup of coffee is eye opening. I love my french press - it is glass and I love the flavour of the fresh ground coffee beans. At least there is no bioengineered bugs in the beans, we hope.

Who’s going to tell him that the water he is using to brew the coffee is already filled with more micro-plastics than that the ninja could ever put in his coffee? It doesn’t matter what you use to make your coffee; just use whatever you want, you can’t avoid micro-plastics.
