Loved your Honest Opinion Black nerd. As someone who has been a TMNT fan since Childhood. Meaning Ive seen every episode of the 1987 show, 2003 show, and 2012 series so far. And who’s read all the comic books and played all the games I can say I honestly enjoyed TMNT Out of the shadows. Don’t get me wrong Its not a great film in the least but as a fan for so long and noticing So many character details from the shows and comics they added I thought it was a fun time. Bebop and Rocksteady were the highlights for me Those 2 were SOO On Point me and buddys kept quoting them. Baxter’s goofy laugh cracked us up but I have to admit Casey Jones was a lil meh and Krang coming in so sporatically would Confuse a Non TMNT fan whos only seen the first film haha. It was basically a Live action Cartoon and me and my friends had a great time watching it. So as someone who’s been a fan so long of TMNT I give it a Matinee. Just a fun popcorn flick but if you only like turtles as a kid but haven’t kept up with it. I think this probably be a Rental or somebullshit for them haha TLDR: If you're a TMNT fan it should be fun if not, you'll be like what the fuck haha

Andre is probably my favorite movie critic on the internet, just because he's extremely fair and evenhanded. He takes every movie for what it is, and finds both the positives and negatives. Sometimes I think a lot of critics take things far too seriously, or judge things by a standard they were never meant to be held to. TMNT: Out of the Shadows is big, silly, bombastic summer blockbuster, if you don't go into it expecting that, you're only going to be disappointed.

To put it pretty simply: "Overanalyst" type of people will either hate or 'ehh' the movie. On the other hand, the "turned my brain off" type will really enjoy it. Personally, for a famous IP they did a great job with the movie. I don't get the hate for this film. People say it didn't make any sense. Um, the movie's about four turtles fighting off against a brain, a pig, and a rhino. It's supposed to be a nonsensical movie. I feel sad for those grown ups wasting their time by bashing this film on the Internet. Do something productive with your life please I pity you. This movie was made for kids and tmnt fans. It's pretty evident, but if you were like me and saw 2k3 I was just gushing at the Turtles scene and was really hoping to see the Utroms, Purple Dragons, which would be a huge part of Casey Jones's character. If you guys want to really understand how accurate the Turtles are watch 2003's series or read the comics. Highly recommend it.

I've seen it three times already - it gets better each time. I'll probably squeeze in another viewing at least while it's in cinemas. The first film suffered from re-writes and edits that messed up a lot of the story. Also, the team weren't sure whether to go dark and gritty or funny so it ended up a confusing mishmash. This one is fun. And Andre, I'm pretty sure you got your 'cheque' when you got invited up to Nickelodeon studios to watch the 80's cast record!

No, just the bad ones are. BVS was a horrible example of film direction, these TMNT movies are just straight up Mikey Bay garbage. I mean if a movie is bad, then it's bad. I remember before Civil War, and BVS when everyone was complaining that Marvel movies weren't dark enough, and that Ultron was cracking jokes. Shit movies come out, and they are usually seen for what they are...except for The Force Awakens. That pile of shit will take a while for the bandwagon to die down, and the millennials to realize that it was simply a rip off of A New Hope, and everything new was shit in it as well.

It's way better. Coming from someone who enjoyed the first flick, the first flick is so freakishly flawed in so many ways. It doesn't know what it wants to be at any given moment. Turtles are ninjas, but no they're super heroes. No wait, bulletproof. No, super strong. No. No. No. This, that. Compound that on a movie built for an audience that generally expects action, or comedy and instead they were served a heaping serving of unexciting material with no chemistry. The Turtles are having more fun, Casey is having fun, B&R are having fun, even Megan is extremely natural compared to the first flick. Everything just flows better and you go in, get your yucks, your thrills, your fanservice and then you get out.

Andre as usual you're spot on. These movies (both the first and this one) thrive in capturing the essence of the characters and the brotherhood, while the story is where there are bumps. Being a turtlehead definitely helps understand more things and makes this movie better. But its fun, the turtles are awesome and they're front and center and finally getting to see several things that I never thought I'd see in a turtles movie has it in front of the first one for me too. Great stuff as always man, you're my go to for all things Nerd.

disney era power rangers its because he is a real fan. I hate fans who only ever compare anything to the cartoon and call that what they really are. The 80s cartoon is actually the worst interpretation of what they were. It was also what caused a shift with the creators in the first place. But all that aside, people like Andre see it like I do. You can have your favorite mediums but the actual fans see the whole spectrum including the three other series plus the multiple.comic book publishers over the years. So i get a little mad when people like angry joe rip it apart for no reason than not even understanding it fully.

+disney era power rangers then i am glad you and i see things the same way. yes fans do consider next mutation the worst but even if it was a hit. the 80s show was mainly because they catered it to young kids but not everyone was initially happy with it. Peter Laird was notoriously against the show because it was made to sell toys and severely strayed from the source material. its why the 2003 series is so different. it was both eastman and laird collaborating and making it the way they envisioned.

I'm super excited about this movie, its really good hearing a good response from you, and yes, it is a big improvement, the problem with Jonathan Liebesman in the first movie is that he was a difficult director to work with (prove that Michael Bay didn't hijacked the first film), that it was hard finding a certain tone for him, even the actors stated that they shot the movie three times, how is that even possible?, but anyways, I'm really looking foward to this new movie, I'm excited, and I think its really awesome that the actors who play the turtles finally get the recognition they deserve, I hopeful that they get more roles in movies or in T.V. because they are quite good actors, even though they are playing six foot CGI turtles, haha

Critics have never liked any of the Ninja Turtles movies because they're just so dumb and out there. In that way, they're kind of the perfect kid's movies because you basically have to be a kid to fully appreciate them. Even the adults who grew up with them are still kind of on the fence about the new ones, cause they're actually aware of things like pacing, motivations, plot holes, etc.

Andre the movie was AWESOME! I love the part where Rocksteady bumrushed Raphael like a NFL player, and the part he was afraid of jumping out the plain that was funny. That famous quote of Raph, " Normal where's the fun in being normal". He was so right! If you could be either Bebop or Rocksteady, who would you choose and why?

I'm patiently awaiting it's DVD/Blu-ray release before watching it. I despise going to movie theatres. What I'm confused about with the Ninja Turtles is Casey Jones. In the original 1987/88 series, Casey was a buff crime fighting psychopath obsessed with fighting law breakers while talking like Clint Eastwood. But in every iteration of Ninja Turtles since, they made him act more normal, and always made him the love interest for April O'Neil. Why? That never made sense to me. But they keep on doing it.

I whole-hearted agree with your suggestion to keep the fight scenes out of context. It reminds me of how Marvel marketed Civil War, with Captain America & Winter Soldier tag teaming Iron Man. It was only after most of the movie happened & Tony Stark decided to turn around that I found myself asking, "Wait, they've made up, so when is that iconic fight scene from the trailer going to happen?"

Hey man great review! I totally agree with you on the tons of footage revealed on trailers and spots. I watched every single one of them before the 2014 movie came out and it totally lost my element of surprise when i finally watched it in the theaters. That's why i only watched the 3 first trailers from OOTS and the experience is great when i finally got to watch it in the theaters. I only watched the trailers and spots after i watched the movie and i realized that there's some footages and scripts removed. Even the krang robot have a different head and body compared to the actual movie.

I watched tmnt 2 yesterday and I remembered what you said about you and Baxter stockman and the first time he started giggling I thought 'Ok this Andre in disguise' .I also loved this film definitely a must see for turtles fans and I give it a 9/10,thought Krang was a little too cartoonish and very random
