I love all the get good comments. Here's a concept, maybe it's about fighting a match that isn't a chore, a waste of time, or boring as hell? Aw, shucks. This Charizard won't stop trying to Flare Blitz me! Wait I'm Ike. I know, counter! That'll get him! Hey look, I'm adapting, I'm punishing him! How fun is a match of me spamming Ike's counter against a Charizard who doesn't even bother to mix up and adapt? Beating them does not make the playstyle any less annoying nor is there any great satisfaction in winning either. I care about fun and challenging matches (it's easier requesting matches via smash forums/discord than hoping to get lucky on FG though although it has its times) and there's no satisfaction in beating some Link that just rolls around and spams arrows at the edge of the stage or a PacMan thats running and throwing projectiles where a majority of the time is spent chasing said character across the stage and ending the hell-ish match. All I wonder is why I even bothered to waste my time instead of SD'ing my two stocks and leaving to find a more challenging player in the first place.

AnbuPrincess or against flare blitz you could shield the flare blitz which will cause the charizard to land flat on his back allowing you to hit him with a jab reset. I made an FG charizard rage quit by doing that

To be fair, an actually good Cloud is one that charges limit, uses safe nair and bair, and punishes out of place opponents with his excellent juggling and early kills with limit. You faced a safe , "good" Cloud. Although, if I know someone in a tournament isn't familiar with the competitive game I usually play the first game seriously and then take it a bit easier the second game not to leave a bad taste in their mouth. The player you had probably didn't recognize this and wanted to be safe like normal

NinjaAkii Good video, I agreed with a lot of what you said. I felt like you whe people like that Megaman main (sometimes I fight againts Marios, Luigis or Zero Suit Samus that spend a minute trying to grab me and start the combo) The rollers are really annoying too, specially if they have characters like Mac or Cloud that seem to be no lag at the end of their rolls. I usually pick Bowser and spam up-special againts them, they can't escape from that if you di it correctly And for the grab spammers you should have mentioned Shulk and Donkey Kong. The ones that stay at one side of the plaftform throw and meteor you. Or the ones that are lossing but they act as cowards at one side, waiting you to go instead of attacking

NinjaAkii I'm not mad I love and agree with the video but i don't personally agree with 3:50 first off the clip you used you know he is playing mega man right? his down air is used to hit something below him, he has an up air if your above him his flame slash is well trash let's face it. and his back air is amazing, second he did throw some metal blades so kudos, but mega man really only has a couple tools that will get him very far. second the same mega man sequence is everywhere, a lot of time when I see this it's on characters where that one attack is literally the best thing the chars got and why handicap yourself on fg when there is for fun if you want to use all the crap moves.

Advice for dealing with projectile spammers: Most projectile moves are slow to come out. Just rush them down and they will have to switch to other moves if you want to hit them. This is true in both competitive and casual smash.

for projectile spammers, link and fox are the way to go. fox for a nearly constant reflector, link for the shield and up-tilt galore

If you were saying "Oh I hate these people so much, they always win so cheaply", then I would board the "then git gud" train. But I feel you since that's not the case. I'm a player like you. I'm not competitive though I enjoy learning and improving my game, which contributes to the most important aspect of Smash that is to have fun. It's quite satisfying to see myself perform new moves, combos, and punishes with my favorite characters. I've been destroyed by and have destroyed people with some of these playstyles and those matches have not been even remotely fun. As a Lucina main, I find myself quite offended by those spammers who even taunt after pulling it off. Same with my buddy who mains Marth. We just roll our eyes and proceed to destroy those people when we encounter them. The problem is that lag can make those moves unpunishable when in FG. However, I must disagree with your character choice opinion. The worst special spammers I've seen are Corrins who think holding B is their only move. And then I miscalculate and end up dead with little damage due to her ridiculous counter. The C-Stick Warriors... I don't find them that annoying. They are predictable, easily punishable, and they stale one of their best kill moves. The counter spammers are another species I struggle having fun with, especially stupid Corrins who might also spam B and fall into two categories. The campers and grabbers... The only character that makes me puke is Lucas. I won't write down the story since I always end up ranting senselessly and that's not the purpose of Smash XD Thanks for uploading this video as it gave me a chance to spit out my rantings as well. Andrew Kornish Fox has way too many good options for it to be optimal to camp with lasers. Wow, Puff has good air mobility and an unpunishable back air, she's totally an annoying character to llay against. No other character out of the 26 other characters are more annoying than Puff or Fox at all. It's no big deal to start the match against Ice Climbers and already lose a stock just because you got grabbed, making it the Gamestop trade of the century. No. Ice Climbers doesn't need any other move except for grab, pummel, and down tilt.

I won't argue these 'playstyles' are annyoing af, but you must find the proper counter against them. I'm sorry but Smash 4 requires a lot more of mindreading, mind you (lol). Anyway, I also get that you play some characters that can get easily countered by others. Well, for some reason typical 'pro smashers' just pick the fastest characters after all ... But you still need to get quite better., don't get too irritated, you must find the proper way to hit them hard while you can without getting too much damaged. That's the ideal key for victory. And don't mind too much to use top tier chars, is just about learning how to move well with your favorite characters, ;)

If it's the playstyle of that character, you can't tell the opponent to play differently only because you don't like his style or you can't deal with it, you only have to git gud and counter his attacks, searching the right moment for your punish. The only thing I disagree with in this video is the "Don't go on for glory" stuff, if you wanna find a character and you're new, for glory is great, no items, no hazards, just characters, for glory isn't actually for glory, for glory is for fun, if you want glory you play comp. Like when you find someone overly serious they're no fun, I'd rather play against a newbie and actually enjoy myself than go up against some highly skilled Sheik which is infuriating to verse. At least a newbie will change characters, not exactly a playstyle, but the most annoying thing is when you get bodied once, and you're like "Sure, he's good, I respect that" but they never change characters. For #2, they're grapplers. You'll have to deal with em, grapplers are basically fighters who have great grab game. I understand u find it annoying, but u have to realize that there are characters who need grabs so badly since they usually help start with combos, set up kill confirms, and set up edgeguarding. If ur planning to become a competitive player, u gotta have to get over it. If not, deal with it.

As a Wario main, I do like grabbing a lot because it can combo to his bike. Also, projectiles aren't really an issue to me because his bike can nuffles them. The only projectiles I would say is the most annoying when spammed is Yoshi's egg toss and Pac-Man's fruits which can knock him of the bike. I guess you can say people would do anything to win, even if it's annoying their opponents. I just hate it when people brag it about later on.

@Mario Strikers: 100% agreed. The game mechanics should punish spamming imho. Moves get weaker over time if you use them too much in terms of knockback and damage, but this is a very minor debuff (hardly noticeable most of the time), and it doesn't affect start/end lag or execution speed of the move. So basically, if someone hits you with a combo, the *game* does nothing to prevent that player from doing it again and again. That's just bad design imho.

Also, your opponent can snap out of it after a while, if he is skilled enough. People like you are the ruin of fighting games. Why do you think Killer Instict has a combo breaker mechanic? To prevent instant death. Fighting games aren't just "hit him once and he dead", or "spam your way to victory", or even "pop out your shield in the very same instant your enemy moves". And sometimes, Smash can be all three of those instances. Wanna know why? Because it's not thought to be competitive. It never was, and it never will be.

Whenever someone uses Spammus I usually just go Zard and spam Flare Blitz on them. It actually works well since it nails pretty good when they roll. Biggest thing is avoiding the projectiles, closing the gap then reading where they roll or simply grabbing them off a roll if I forgot to FB fast enough. But of course while I could use other chars to force them to approach me and also project anything back perfectly, I excel best at chars like Zard, Ganon, etc. so I have needed to work out different ways to work around such things.

My least favorite type of playstyle to go against: Those players doing nothing but run away and wait for you to either throw out an unsafe option (Not even projectile spamming) or only get in damage from punishes and nothing else. They don't approach, they don't try zoning you out, they just run away and wait until you're wide open. I get that punishing an unsafe option is a fighting game norm, but I'd rather get punished by a player that at least tries to fight me rather than just going for pot-shots the whole time.

See, I used to get annoyed by some of these playstyles a lot too, but then I eventually realized that finding ways to counter each particular playstyle is all part of the fun. It's helped by how the game has a big rock/paper/scissors going on between dodge/attack/shield/grab. If I see anyone using one of those too much, I go down the line to find the counter. People shield a lot? grab command a lot. People like using counters? Bait them with smashes and hold them long or cancel out. Still working on projectile spam, but for now I've got "walk slowly towards them, shielding/dodging what need be, until being close enough to pull out a safe attack between the rain.

About nr 4: Some characters are meant to be played campy. Characters like Olimar and Duck Hunt benefit from chipping away from a distance and then going in for the kill. The best way to counter it is with either reflects or superior projectiles. On character like Link (projectile spammers) or Cloud (Limit camping) it can be frustrating and it's just not fun. Also, Bowser (like DK) is a grappler. You should be abusing your pivot grab. Same with falcon and Lucario. Many characters have a grab as combo starter or as kill setup. It's to be expected that people try to use it. Grabs can be countered easily by spotdodging, rolling or grabbing before your opponent. You can also bait a grab and punish the endlag.

You can jump to avoid projectiles, don't let them land if they're jumping, spot dodge to avoid grabs or roll behind them, and bait counters. None of these playstyles are hard to deal with. Like at all.

As a Ness main, I tend to grab a lot and use a good amount of specials. Like PK Rocket is one of the best kill moves (assuming you can land it), and Down throw combos into forward air twice for extra damage, or up air as another great kill move. But I just try to forward smash projectiles back because it's soooo satisfying to watch a Samus go from 0% to 52% because of their charged shot being reflected back XD. Also, I roll a lot as my other main, Jigglypuff, because she isn't necessarily bulky

Rolling is OP online because of input lag (extremely slight amounts but still very important) that prevents you from punishing rolls easily. You'll think you're gonna hit them but instead they roll again or attack you. It's not anywhere near like that offline, which is why it's confusing.

A lot of these reasons are why I gave up on smash 4 almost a year ago. All the people I have to play with locally are either Roll+projectile spam or stand still and use counter/jab on an approach. For a while, the matches felt like a really lame game of tag. Finally the matches literally turned into us standing there staring at each other across the stage because neither of us would approach. With time and dedication I could have learned to overcome the tedium of campers and spammers, but then it wouldn't be a game... it would be a job.

I main Bowser, and i've learned somehing: Use everything in moderation. When i first got smash I only used special moves. Then i only used regular moves. Then i only used grabs, and then smashes. Then i leared all his attacks. And i realized to keep everything in moderation was key.

The only reason why I don't leave the match against projectile spammers is because it lets me practice my perfect shielding, and I've gotten better at it. I believe you forgot one play style: Staying only by ledge and trying to get you to go for a punish only to fail 50% of the time, EX.) Villager, Wii Fit trainer. Otherwise Great video!

Here is a kind of player who is really annoying that no one seems to talk about: You ever find someone on For Glory 1v1 and you absolutely destroy them in the first match? You get that easy feeling, thinking he is a noob for competitive smash. You play a second match and BOOM he starts destroying you and you will never win against him again. As a Marth main I disagree with your statement of only using the special move. Honestly you use those for kills and kills only, playing Marth or Lucina is about finesse and racking up damage in combo streaks, not by spamming the shield breaks. I go on for glory a lot, and as a Bayo main, I joke around with the tag "Bayo=Cheap" since I have replays of me STILL 0-death'ing people on For Glory after patch. Anyway, I think number 1 should have been the people who pick YOUR main to try to be like "heh im better" and then either suck because they've never played as your main before, or are actually good. But it's still pretty funny seeing my tag be as "Bayo=Cheap" and then see the other person go Bayo after. Heh

Regarding the grabbing, certain characters like DK and Boswer's combo game rely heavily on grabs. JS it is not uncommon to see a Boswer attempt to grab you a lot. Now, mindlessly throwing out grabs in hopes to catching an opponent is terrible strategy, yes, but with a correct read, Boswer can grab you at mid percents and follow up with a reverse fair to a back air and end the stock at the ledge. Also, up throw to Uair is a kill confirm for Boswer.

I can relate to the camper one. This one time I ran into this person who started with mario, and stayed in the corner, they were also a smash spammer since they did like 3 F smashes in a row. And then they switched to Link. I don't think I've ever been more disgusted with a play style. He rolled to the edge of the stage, spammed projectiles and when I tried to run up and attack him this happens: Grab, Grab jab x5, I get out, standard normal attack. Literally no matter what I did I couldn't hit him at all cause his play style was so disgusting.

I think the only reason people spam dodge is because you can't wave dash which was a very useful tool in melee. The only case you should use projectiles consistently is when you short hop laser with Falco or Fox. Also if someone is spamming roll just read your opponent and then punish. Usually people spam dodge because they think it's a get out of a bad situation free kinda thing.

I have a friend, he plays duck hunt. when the game starts he goes to the corner and proceeds as follows: Neutral B, Side B, Down B, Repeat. If you get close he either rolls all the way to the other side, or fully charges a smash attack, or jumps all around avoiding you. when he gets a kill he celebrates like he earned it. It is annoying and cancerous and I hate playing with him. But he is predictable as fuck so I proceed to wreck him, but have no fun doing so.

My most hated playstyle is the one where you're fox and then you just spam Fox's laser gun as soon as it says go, making it near IMPOSSIBLE to dodge them because 1. the lasers are really fast and 2. it's really hard to predict.

Grabbing isn't really annoying, it can give a disgusting advantage to the person that gets grabbed. Characters that rely heavily on grabs (Bowser, Ness, Lucas) are ones that need a grab if they're going to win. (Exaggeration, but still...) That Lucas knew what he could do out of a grab and he wanted it bad. It can be annoying but just focus on not getting grabbed be those types of players and you're fine.

I used to be a jumper (number 3 on the list)...for a reason though. I only played with friends and i sucked at the game, and my dodge on the controller i used almost never worked. So i resorted to jumping as my "dodging". I eventually got that controller fixed, but now I have a brand new one.

One play style I absolutely hate is what I call the Hit and Run. Most noticeably on Wii Fit Trainer, they will get off stage to charge neutral B and then attacking you with projectiles from the ledge. If you get close the just run to the opposite site of the stage.

I agree with most of your list. In my case, what I hate the most is players who are a mix of the roller, proyectile spammer and grabber. The combination of those 3 things really gets me mad, specially against smashers who only know 2 things: Shoot proyectiles and shield grab.
