Many people don’t realize these frogs are really unique because they aren’t like frogs in many ways. For one they can’t swim and will drown if you put them in deep water. Second, they don’t have tadpole babies, but instead hatch mini baby frogs. And third they cannot hop, but they crawl fast if they wanted to.

Yes and some amphibians have semipermeable skin so they can absorb dangerous chemicals into their skin. Adorable little guys 😊 I love my baby toad friends outside. I feed them stinkbugs lol. They eat any insects. 😂

@@user-lp1js7jc4m i looked it up and it seems that the african rain frog is endangered because of habitat loss. Other types of rain frogs don't seem to be endangered, as you mentioned.(My conclusion after 2 minutes of googling.) Still not sure if my home country would allow keeping them as pets. I'll look further into it.🤘

@@sssourboy Honestly, if they're endangered people really should be breeding them for release. I wish more organizations would enlist citizen-animal-lovers to help with replacement programs, because ANYTHING people have as pets ends up breeding like crazy, and too much. The issue is when people are catching them FROM the wild, but if you make it a requirement that to have this pet, you have to help with replacement programs--I mean, that would solve your problem right there. There's a reason cows don't go extinct--and there are now more macaws in captivity than in the wild, if I understand correctly (so we really should be breeding wild and releasing some of what we've got). But also--the common rain frog isn't endangered. Just like all the other species. If these are desert rain frogs, then yes they are endangered, and probably wild-caught. I'm not very able to tell the difference ;_; But if you wanted to get a common rain frog, and work on pioneering their breeding, you'd be doing a service to the community. Or even join and start a captive breeding program for release into the wild with endangered rain frogs at your local zoo.
