Sir is alcohol oxidized and form H2O2 or this is formed during beta oxidation?? During alchol detoxification hydrogen peroxide is breakdown or synthesize?? Need your help about this concept Will wait your answer.
@DophaTonine Жыл бұрын
H2O2 is formed by oxidases in peroxisomes. RH2 + O2 -> R + H2O2. Since hydrogen peroxide is a harmful substance, catalase breaks it down immediately. RH2 + H2O2 -> R + H2O. In beta oxidation time, the substance is oxidized and water (H2O) is formed from H2O2. At this time, the hydrogen peroxides contained in the peroxisomes are broken down. The same goes for alcohol. Alcohol detoxification time H2O2 is broken down (by catalase)

For beta oxidation in peroxisomes, I heard it stops at the 8 carbon octanoyl coa and continues in the mitochondria. Is this true?
