We don't mix MMA and Ninjutsu, certainly not here. MMA is a great sport. We are not preparing competitors for the arena. MMA is a popular definition now, so when someone wants to understand and asks, what Ninjutsu is, one can answer: "Ninjutsu / Budo taijutsu is a traditional MMA". and it won't be far from the truth.

You guys have some amazing videos, your teachers breakdowns of the techniques. The way he explains how and why they work are excellent. It's crazy to see techniques i recognise in my Xingyiquan and Shuai Jiao(chinese wrestling) practice in ninjutsu of all things. I especially see a lot of evidence of Convergent evolution in throwing techniques. I have been practicing your kicks in my SanDa training. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Cool , you guys from Akban make very good videos. Btw, I hate it when people want to compare it to UFC or something like this. Ninjutsu is a martial art, not just some sport. A true martial artist always tries to avoid conflicts and live in peace with nature. I love because it offers a great variety, not just pure force, but also training with different weapons etc

Hira ichimonji is mainly a Kukishinden ryu stance, though not only. To find out more you can google: "Hira ichimonji no kamae, horizontal stance - Ninjutsu, AKBAN" for the AKBAN wiki article about it. Of course, the article is not complete as there are at least 5 different kata and many more henka (variation) to this stance. If you can't afford the time to search then, in a nutshell, Hira ichimonji deals with protecting oneself or a dear one against a broad angle of possible threat.

Kamae (stances) rather than kata (sequences) but each has a sequence attached, they just aren't practiced as kata 😀
@AkbanOrg12 жыл бұрын
The wiki is missing many kata from kukishinden, Fudo ryu jutaijutsu and some Takagi. At the current rate of documentation we are looking at 12 more years... Thant is the problem with grassroots efforts like the AKBAN wiki - the lack of business model and money makes development slower.

I have always wondered about Hanin no Kamae as I haven't encountered it at either of the dojos Ive trained at, and I haven't seen it in the Kamae no Kata, Kihon Happo or the Sanshin no Kata. A very elusive stance! At a guess Id say the hand form is used to attack the eyes?

Very different from Okinawan Karate....It looks more like learning and practicing practical Wazas....It's the first time I see that Ninjitsu has Katas.... Traditional Jiu Jitsu has a few katas, too, but they are more like Wazas that "are not strung" together like in Okinawan Karate, or Chinese Kung Fu / Tai Chi and other traditional Chinese arts.
@DouglasEKnappMSAOM5 жыл бұрын
I am not sure you understood what you saw. This video is a combination of a LOT of katas. Our Katas are mostly very short, two person dances. Most are about 5 moves long or less.

Some of the kicks are slow and won’t deliver much power, I don’t fight with anger, rather I transfer that powerful energy to my hands, feet, elbows, knees, and even head. So when I hit someone the power is much greater. Besides that, the stances are good and sturdy.
@DouglasEKnappMSAOM5 жыл бұрын

Thank you for the kind words. I do not care if it's Ninjutsu or what. This is what I learned from my teacher, Doron Navon, and what I do. I agree though, the Bujinkan syllabus has a lot of other ryuha and not a lot of Ninjutsu syllabus.
