It's so epic whenever Nintendo makes a reference to a game they made a long time ago. Although It's unacceptable to have a new Kid Icarus game every 20 years, Nintendo. we need to continue this awesome franchise!

@RedTearz92 Its a reference to the NES kid Icarus, because in the NES game there were also Metroids. The reason for this was because Kid Icarus used the same game engine from Metroid NES.

I like the NES of kid Icarus reference. Its also very amazing how we can have graphics like these on a portable system. Would be nice if ya could actually talk online like xbox live and stuff though.

@camerabox1 In Kid Icarus those "metroids" are called Komaytos. They have that likeness to metroids since the original NES KI and Metroid were developed at the same time by the same team.

@Taroulelion And for the record, both franchises have changed many, many times. Mario revolutionized the industry as we know it when it departed from its usual 2D roots, and was the first to enter 3D gaming, with Mario 64. Sunshine was recognizably different with the entire island motif and the concept of exploration over travelling to different worlds. Super Mario Galaxy introduced gravity-based play to the franchise, and its take with Wii controls was ENTIRELY different from anything before.

Okay I'm now sure that there are more then 9 chapters, considering the new screenshots I have seen recently. Like there are scenes in deserts, mountains, and (as shown here), underseas. I'm guessing somewhere between 12-20 chapters. However you slice it, this is gonna be one awesome adventure!

@jenskeroro Well, FYI, this game is based on the original Kid Icarus more than Of Myths and Monsters. Medusa was the original villain in that game (as you can see from this trailer).

@Taroulelion Skyward Sword had motion controls that were almost precise - which forced players to depart from the whole A+B slash combo mash that so defined the series' combat and pace before. Now you have the Wii MotionPlus, which was used so that players had to properly land their attacks in specific places, thereby enhancing the combat's depth. Skyward Sword's story was also far better developed and presented than previous entries.

Medusa has been revived and is seeking revenge, and Pit has to stop her with the help of the goddess Palutena. The plot has a lot of characters and twists, too. You shoot on land and in the air while the dialogue is going on, so you get to see the story progress as you play the game, along with some cutscenes.

@GunRunnerX7 There are 9 categories of weapons, with many different weapons in each category. And depending on what intensity you're on, the stats will differ and there are a lot of special traits as well.

The plot of Kid Icarus: Uprising follows the angelic protagonist, Pit, as he battles against the forces of a reborn Medusa who seeks to destroy mankind. Pit will also utilize the ability of flight granted by Palutena called the "Power of Flight" to aid him in flying to different worlds so he could fight massive monsters. However, Pit finds himself also dealing with a doppelganger of himself called Dark Pit.

@Taroulelion Twilight Princess wasn't much of a difference, but Skyward Sword was almost unrecognizable from its predecessors save for the basics: temple, boss, yada yada yada. Before I explain it, I hope you understand what 'rehash' means. It means copy-and-pasting the exact same gaming experience under a different name. As aforementioned, Mario and Zelda have frequently brought new elements to their respective series, that actually MATTER.

@Taroulelion I'm assuming you're comparing Red Steel to Skyward Sword. Except Skyward Sword fully utilized Motion+ to its fullest extent, and properly as well. Red Steel hastily took the elements of the peripheral and sloppily implemented them. The disparity in accuracy and control experience is vast.

@Taroulelion 3D Land took hold of the 3D capabilities of the 3DS, and, in the words of IGN, legitimized the actual use of it on the platform. It took aspects from BOTH the 2D and 3D aspects of the franchise and mixed both. Wind Waker, like Zelda, brought a bigger focus on exploration to the series, and the concept of sailing was new as well. Its artstyle, as you most obviously noticed, changed the overall atmosphere and tone of the story from serious to light-hearted. That in itself is change.

The controls are entirely different, the combat is changed, the pace is slower and much more analytical, the story is presented in a much better and cinematic manner. So how is that a rehash? It's different from previous Zeldas in a multitude of ways. 'same characters' Ghirahim, Fi, Demise, hell, the entire cast of Skyloft is new. Even Zelda herself, character-wise, is changed from past entries.

@daviddakota Its more along the lines of Dynasty Warriors meets Ninja Gaiden and Sin and Punishment. It's got the random loot/item set up seen in games like DW, and its gameplay is basically a NG clone mixed with Sin and Punishment style on rail parts.

-_- I think it was obvious that it would be against Medusa, considering it was in the First Kid Icarus game (and the inclusion of Medusa is almost impossible to not mention). If you were referring to getting the 3 sacred treasures, well. . . that was, kinda, obvious seeing as she is basicly invincible to Pit unless he has the Sacred Bow, and Pit is defenseless unless he has the Mirror Shield, the Armour protects him from the other none-stare-y-stony-powerz.

no dude i just passed where it said that the metroids are related to the creatures similiar to them in kid icarus. they're not metroids though. so yes the games are UNRELATED but the metroid and creature from kid icarus are.
