GoldenEye 007 is a first-person shooter video game developed by Rare and based on the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye. It was released for the Nintendo 64 video game console in August 1997. The game features a single-player campaign in which players assume the role of British Secret Intelligence Service agent James Bond as he fights to prevent a criminal syndicate from using a satellite weapon against London to cause a global financial meltdown. The game includes a split-screen multiplayer mode in which up to four players can compete in different types of deathmatch games.
This longplay is done on 00 Agent which is the hardest difficulty that can unlock the Aztec Complex & Egyptian Temple bonus stages. -

@@houstontexas9463 er... No. Like, absolutely not. If not for Doom, Duke, and Quake, there would have been no urging to make Goldeneye into a free roam first person shooter. It would have been a side scroller, a 3rd person platformer, or as it was planned to be a light gun-style game. The boom of the FPS genre starts with Doom, Duke, and Quake. Everything after that is living up to those legends in one way or another. Goldeneye's one claim to fame is that it was hugely successful on consoles, and to pave the way for successes like Halo. That's it.

For those who didn't try it before - there is an Project64 emulator for GoldenEye and Perfect Dark which uses mouse and keyboard for mouse aiming and WASD-controls. Try it, it plays PERFECTLY, as if it was intended for playing on computers.

Still playing this on my RGB 60hz N64 in glorious 240p CRT, I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who missed out on it. The closest any console got to it at the time was Medal of Honor on PS1 which despite using dual sticks still felt a generation behind.

Granted this game was revolutionary for it's time. Game could of been much better if the artificial intelligence wasn't so dumb. You could predictably expect the computer to completely unload his gun while you take cover and then simply walk up blow them away since they need to reload. Also there are some parts in the game where the enemies literally go on forever until you complete your objective.

Something surreal about the NPCs faces always creeped me out. They still do to be honest. I think it was the realism of their facial features contrasted by their robotic reactions. Especially those little sidesteps they do to avoid your gunfire. The Donkey Kong “cheat” however negated all of that.
