I finished Contra 4 in normal difficulty and thought it was one of the most difficult games I've beaten. Player on the video doesn't even bother using the second gun slot or ever collecting super homing missiles on hard difficulty and still beats it without taking a single hit. Platformer prodigy.

I totally loved the last boss, Black Viper, and how you kill run through his insides and kill him from the center of his head. I also liked how most levels are remakes from previous Contra adventures and how they justify the connection between them and their reason to exist. Loved this longplay, hope to see more like this in the future. :D

And lemme tell ya, this is the hardest one I ever faced. Even on Easy difficulty I can't seem to go much further in Stage 4 until frustration kicks in and I decide to give up (again!). It was great having the opportunity to see all the magnificence this game has to offer beyond that point. I'm happy to see all the production value this game had. I only wish they would have given this kind of treatement to the CastleVania series, although with that we got three games for the DS.

I remember, back in the day I could beat Contra III: The Alien Wars on Hard difficulty and in a single life, not bragging, it's just that if you died once and lost your weapon then you were screwed for the most part. :P Contra and Super C (NES versions) are very easy to beat in one life. Contra: Hard Corps was awesome too and had like nine endings. I've played almost all Contra games and almost all their different ports (PC, Amiga, NES, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, GB Advance, PlayStation, etc.).

This was the 1st Contra I beaten...then I went on to beat Contra 1, Super C, Contra 3(Normal and Hard) and Contra Hard Corps.

Ramiro1992 (Mr_X) Ha, ha, what? Normal isn't even impossible dude, it does take skill which I have, I mean I no death the 1st 2 NES Contra games on my youtube channel. In the future I may do Contra 4 again but record it. Also Ghost N Golbins is doable without dying but it's near impossible so a few deaths is more reasonable. I know it's hard to believe that there are people that skilled out there but they exist.=p

mitu123Copper you are not skilled, you are a noob, true skilled players don't talk like that, i don't go to other channels talking about the hard games i finished and i know what a hard game is and i finished some of the hardest games, but contra 4 is beyond hard, if you say contra 4 is not hard it shows how a liar you are because every sane person will say that contra 4 is near impossible. and not only the hardest contra ever made but also one of the hardest games ever made, i don't believe you are among the 10% of people who are that skilled

I have just beaten Contra 4 on hard mode a few minutes earlier. Believe it or not, I was expecting to unlock Contra 3. Oh well. At least it was a challenging, yet great game. You don't know how rewarding it feels to hear both the final victory and end credits song.

this is actually a tool assisted longplay, it's obvious that if it was a person will use other kind of strategies and weapons, also the movements are too precise. This game is not too hard, i made it to the stage 8 and i am getting good at this

@rodneybrett I'm guessing whoever made this doesn't really have mad skillz, but has an emulator with a rewind feature. Most decent Contra players would have blown through the bosses much faster, and there doesn't really seem to be any strategy to weapon selection / switching.

Great game with really nice updated graphics, but what's up with the ugly color banding on the background sky graphics?! I hated when they did that on the old consoles. The DS is more than capable of doing a blending effect or a more natural look.
