i know your comment is 2 years old, but maybe my response can help someone else. That golden tape is named ''kapton tape'' and is used to protect the other parts (mainly plastic parts) from heat, so they won't melt while you heat the chip.

Got the same colour but my dsi xl doesnt recognize my finger just the stylus and sometimes not even that. I see the end of the stylus is kinda worn out, might be that?

You’d have to buy a whole DSi XL shell replacement kit. Amazon would normally sell them, buy I usually see more 3DS XL shells more than the DSi XL

What is the point of this video? How do you conclude a white screen is caused by a solder problem in the processor? And just heating it is not the correct procedure, it should be reballed. And after soldering, how were you so certain it's repaired? You closed the console with all screws before any test! This is completely different of a real repair job. Too good to be true.

It will not turn on w/o battery and just using charger. You will get a blinking orange light.
