It's not that companies have to be like that, but the Reggie and Iwata days gave Nintendo a vibe, not just fun, but unique. And while the Wii U was not the console that was expected, they still managed to get a smile. I will remember those days fondly.

***** lol it's all about the devs and money. Back in the N64 and GC eras when Nintendo had the powerful hardware, where the most devs were? Playstation. You can argue because of the cartridges and miniDVDs, but still there's always an excuse. For example Ubisoft was hopeful about the Wii U... until they realized only Just Dance was selling.

n atira so humana​ Yes and no . . The N64 was powerful yet hard to develop for due to hardware design and the sdk's being a bit late to many 3rd parties. Though the same thing happened to the PS2 the entire first year was a nightmare for devs to get a handle on that downright ugly hardware but Rockstar (DMA Design) had experience with N64 and that helped them tremendously with the PS2 architecture. Once gta 3 came out there was a domino effect with other devs. But money and good developer support (relationships) helped the PS2 also since Sony was coming off the PS1 . . . The industry can be fickle but money always talks . . The Wii helped and hindered Nintendo

*****​​​ There's nothing special about the hardware in the Xbox One or the PS4 . . There literally laptop processors down clocked and the gpu's were 2 to 3 years old back when the consoles were released. It doesn't matter what's inside a piece of technology . . It's what creative minds can do with it . . Period. If that's clouded by money and numbers sold . . Well there's not a whole lot to combat that. The Wii U is technically an xbox 360 that's got more memory and a slightly more modern gpu/cpu. Also development on it is pretty easy . . Some developers want to make games for it and they're mostly indie types.

LuckySolshot That's what the suggestion from a stereotypical teenager would have been. ...Actually, maybe that wouldn't be quite so bad. Nintendo's good at taking decent ideas and making amazing stuff out of them, so even if they took an awful idea, the end result might even be half-decent. (Or they'd completely (and intentionally) misunderstand or mishear it and only get the FPS part, leading them to make a Metroid Prime 4.)
