People are mentioning Nintendo's poor track record preserving older games and that is definitely suspect at best on the digital front; for example, the 3DS and Wii U eShop closing. Can't defend that. However, with their PHYSICAL software Nintento has many examples of backwards compatibility throughout their history: Gameboy games on subsequent iterations, GCN games on Wii, Wii games on Wii U, DS on 3DS etc. Their digital compatibility has a spotty track record but for their part at least in adjacent generations, their physical preservation has been better than some.

Not defending piracy, but there are some completely legit concerns with lack of game preservation, and Nintendo has shown very little interest in supporting that over the years. The recent Wii U and 3DS eshop closures are a great example. The whole situation is unfortunate. I've never felt like my library will carry over with Nintendo the same way it has with literally every other platform.

​@XiTSlash Think you missed the point. I'm not saying the shops needed to stay open, but Nintendo hasn't provided an alternative for people. Purchases from those consoles don't carry over to the Switch so software is handcuffed to individual hardware. And Nintendo has yet to put forth a solution.

Nintendo is following the Disney way of selling their movies. Full price, and re releasing them to new generations at full price. The original cost keeps going down as they do this.

It’s crazy that people feel entitled to play video games. If you can’t afford to play a game it isn’t nintendos fault. It can be an expensive hobby but at the same time you can get 100’s of hours out of a $60 game.

The switch is a current platform but nobody cares to mention that Nintendo has already pulled software off store and digital shelves for the switch. This whole thing about emulation just being okay for older platforms is completely arbitrary. Was it okay to emulate to the Wii right up until the storefront was shut down, or was everyone okay with it years leading up to that? Yuzu deserves what they got here, they had so many chances to avoid this and chose the wrong path every single time, but it's insane to be happy about this.

Lol for the dev teams so don't leak... But torch or nitpick them in the review? Like this reply, if you don't want it to see it don't go to where it's at. Social media will share spoilers. IGN was a big part of spoiler/leak culture long ago. Not everyone likes spoilers/leaks, but they do well for hype.

Whats the saying that piracy isn't a problem of price but convience? People want to play their switch games on a device that is more powerful and can do more than just play nintendo games. People want it on their steam deck, or computer. If nintendo won't provide that option then they can't complain about missing out on those sales.

Pirating games is one of the top reasons like literally one of the very top reasons developers get laid off. They said its reported that Tears of the Kingdom was illegally downloaded over a million times before released. Thats lost money for the people who made that game. Writing and speculation about something with your name out there attached to it is what IGN does, Pyoro doesn't do any of that. He just spoils things in ways that are unintended by the dev teams and the publishers where as IGN is asked to reveal things or expected to speculate and talk about it on their own merits and report on gaming news. The Dreamcast died because too many Sega console owners felt incredibly burned by the mess that was the previous generation of Sega consoles.
