Yes, Switch 2 announcement won't affect Switch Holiday sales, because the reveal won't happen during the Holiday season ;)

Wouldn’t say that. Nintendo only needed to do one thing to ensure that a 2024 reveal wouldn’t affect software sales and could conceivably help hardware sales. Backward compatibility would encourage software sales because people will work on building up their personal libraries through the sales. And some people who are planning to get Switch 2 but weren’t on Switch might purchase a Switch to get started with the Switch ecosystem and then trade-in/trade up to the next generation within weeks of launch. I will say this. If they don’t reveal by/at The Game Awards, that’s probably the line in the sand. The “if we haven’t revealed by now, we’re revealing in 2025” line. But, they’ll probably want to reveal before then so that third parties can help build and maintain the hype train AT The Game Awards.

This was a rumor from over a year ago that logically HAD to be true. In my mind, this was already a known feature for over a year, is what I'm saying. Then, when they announced that the store and accounts were going to remain the same, it was essentially verified to be 100 percent true. When they announced that ToTK (a HUGE late release) wasn't going to very DLC for the Switch... to me that was all I needed to hear to know that Switch games were not only going to play on Switch 2 but that some Switch games were going to get DLC and enhancements on Switch 2. There's no way Nintendo would pass up that opportunity with a game like ToTK. In fact, the entire reason I've even entertained a release before 2025 is because of this knowledge. They don't need a big launch title when there's already 3rd party games on the store that will benefit from the new hardware.

With the announcement of backward compatibility, that opens a lot of possibilities for announcement times still in 2024. There probably still is a line in the sand, but that line is also after the biggest sales end. The Game Awards. But it would probably be revealed before then to allow third parties and indies to OFFICIALLY start announcing titles for Switch 2 at The Game Awards rather than having the cryptic empty spots or the cutesy cryptic eyes emoji on the Nintendo name.

Not true at all. Backwards compatibility is a reason to release early, before any big titles. Like I've been saying for like a year, all they need is the 3rd party games, maybe a DLC or 2. There's tons of 3rd party games that can immediately take advantage of the new hardware, games that people are so playing on Switch. It isn't that difficult to put higher quality versions up of these games.
