Anyone remember the original GOOD Wii and the advertisements for that? "Wii would like to play". Also I’ve encountered many hardware problems with the switch. I’ve had to have two replacements already, even while looking after the console, keeping it in its case when not in use. Joycon drift, units dying on me. Wii U hasn’t had one problem yet.

I wish marketers/producers would get this simple rule into their thick skulls, don't market products or hire kid movie actors with little whiny/obnoxious kids. It didn't work for kid actors in movies, and it doesn't work for this either. It's pretty much a death wish for your movie/product. If it's one thing that kids role model better from it's heroic, strong, awesome looking characters or cool young adults. Hardly anyone is gonna be aspired to watch or buy products with young snot nosed twats. You want to grab a general demographic to buy your product, little kids don't grab very many especially the annoying ones. With ads like these it's no wonder the Wii U failed so badly (even though it's like 20% or so the problem the Wii U suffered from). Thankfully so far Switch is getting cooler vibes with no fucking kids and Nintendo's getting pretty wild with Switch title adverts and they're doing a tremendous job. Hopefully this trend continues and hopefully adverts will stop using fucking kids in their marketing, cause very rarely does it work.

Ponyj0 the switch ads still feature kids in them from time to time, but never in the forefront like the wiiu did. the switch ads include the younger demographic by showing them, i dunno, actually playing the game with their friends or parents and having fun just like the young adults rather than putting on presentations to beg their parents with their whiny little voices. if theres one thing i know from living and working in an in home daycare, younger kids tend to have the "I want that for (insert holiday here)!!" reaction more often when the commercials feature people actually having fun and playing with the thing rather than just begging parents to get the thing.

I can really understand this and relate to it. One time in my secondary school, people were talking about how shit the Nintendo consoles were (including the switch) because the last time any of them so advertisements for a Nintendo console was the Wii u which gave a stigma that it is for annoying little kids. A few weeks later after some phone detox (because of a bunch of people weres sexting and watching porn in school) someone brought in his Nintendo Switch and everyone shifted their attention to it, doing some smash ultimate tourney with 30+ players. Everyone was having a great time (not sure if part of the reason was that they were bored) but you get the point. Wii U did a bad job at showing why people enjoy the console, misrepresenting it as a kids-only game.
