I’ve used the Hori Split pad pro for handheld playing since the day I got my Switch, for me the only way to play handheld. For playing docked I would recommend the Zen Pro Wireless, sells at Target for $60.00 and supports Amiibo scanning, gyro aiming wirelessly, and can wake up the Switch. It also works on Pc, Android, and IOS. The controller has hall effect joysticks so no stick drift.

I have my switch oled for over a year now and i still love it. I just recently got a good deal on Tears of the Kingdom for 50 dollars brand new! I recommend the 8bitdo ultimate controller if you want no stick drift.

I love that you guys brought up the Hori split pad. I didn't necessarily want to change out the joy cons for handheld mode, but once I put the Hori split pad in there was no going back. Now here's the part where I might be different than the typical switch consumer. I am not a huge Nintendo first party gamer. I know that might be blasphemy but as a survival horror fan and a metroidvania fan Nintendo's not making my favorite games. Yes, Metro dread is one I want to play. I just haven't yet. I do love Metroid but I use it more as a newer bigger DS so I will buy games that I think the switch will handle half decently and then I'll use it to play games handheld when I know I don't have as much time to sit down and play a game or I don't have as much time to go down to the game room and play a game. We have a spare dock in our living room so that I can pick up and play when I want and put it away when I want. It might be a strange way to use the switch, but I enjoy it the best way that I can. I am going to be on the minority when I say I didn't like or I guess I didn't give enough time to breath of the wild. Therefore, I have not and probably will not buy tears of the kingdom.

my fiancee and i both each have a switch & we love them. like you have pointed out they aren't the most powerful console, but they make up for that in various ways. As far as controllers (which again like you've mentioned) there are numerous types to chose from, my personal favorite is the Beboncool F1 Nintendo Switch Gaming Controller (specifically the model number F1). my fiancee bought that for me 3 years ago, i use it all the time in both dock & when it's in hand held mode (i just prop the switch up on it's kick stand and use the controller) and that controller is still going strong to this day with no problems. as far as games, i missed out sadly on a lot of the Wii U titles that i'm now getting a 2nd chance with on the switch as well as getting some of the more affordable titles for the actual Wii U . Like with any console the games are going to come down to user preference , me personally i love RPG's , FPS,select racing , select platformers and select fighting, (these are just some of the examples that we have physically in our switch collection : Collection of Mana, Daemon X Machina, Astral Chain, Dead or School, both Fire Emblem games, Dragon Quest 1+2+3 Collection , Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster Collection , Super Mario 3D All-Stars, XIII, River City Girls, Samurai Shodown NeoGeo COllection, etc) yes some of those aren't exclusive to just the switch, but they still hold up well on the system . all in all i think you guys did a great job on this video talking about the system, a lot of what you said was spot on, between both games & accessories it's an all around great system for both casual and hard core gamers. cheers guys hope every one has a great day, thank you for listening to my mindless rants, and happy gaming

I feel like they are gonna milk this system for as long as they can. But we have to expect more out of a Super Switch i.e: Online capability, more power, fixed joycons, and potentially being backwards compatible with the switch itself. We’ll see how long it takes, hopefully metroid prime 4 doesn’t end up being pushed back to a launch title for it 😅

Yeah, that's actually why I haven't gotten a Switch yet. I'm suspecting that the Super Switch, at least the 1st gen version of it, will have backwards compatibility and so I'm kind of thinking I'll wait for that. What's more, I'm guessing there will be an overlap period between when the Super Switch comes out and before the current Switch ends, during which time I'm guessing Switches will go on sale as retailers try to shed inventory and make space for the Super Switch. That's all just me speculating though.

@@ehsanghazavi470 What he's saying is that they are GOING to milk it by not releasing a new console because the switch is so profitable that they have very little incentive to release new hardware. Think of 3DS. There were plenty of iterations, but they squeezed out as much as they could from it because the sales momentum of the 3DS was very good.

Great video! Even with the numerous flaws of the console (joy cons, shabby online connectivity, etc.) this has become my favorite console of all time. The wide range of games, past and present, is unlike anything I've ever seen before. It almost feels like you could call it the "history of video games console". Even with it aging, I'm still playing it much more than my new Xbox Series console.

The 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth Controller is the best controller I've tried for Switch; 22 hours play time, motion controls, very strong force feedback, two macro buttons, analog triggers, and three profiles for button mapping. comes with a charge dock and a USB dongle for 2.4g wireless, also for use with windows and steam deck. For those in need of micro SD cards, Switch is compatible with any card up to 2TB - however, be careful when buying memory cards online, as cheap off brand cards are not as advertised. You can currently find name brand 512GB micro SD cards for reasonable prices. In the event where you need to swap sd cards for more games or organizing games by whatever criteria, make sure to fully power your Switch off (do not leave your console on standby) otherwise your memory card will be corrupted and you'll have to re-download all your eshop purchases.

The Switch is my favorite system of All-time. Its has every generation of game on it from Atari to Present. nothing touches this system. You don't really need to worry about Harddrive space cause 95% games are ALL on the cartridges, I have 66 Games Physical games on my switch and I'm not even at the half way mark of space (unless you go all digital). This system is Nintendo's best By far and I will challenge anybody in a Friendly debate that's says otherwise. I've been gaming since the late 80's as a child and this system is the best I owned and is the Modern day SNES. imo.

I had the same feelings about the switch early in its life. I am a big Wii U fan and thought the switch was just regurgitating the Wii U great games. With you 100% on the joy cons...they are trash, and your thoughts about how they perform on the lites...trash as well. I got lites for my kids and had to break open the console to replace one because of drift. Luckily (just like the joy cons themselves), its not too bad replacing them, or parts of them. Its just something that should never have to be replaced. Great video as always guys. Cheers

The only things worth playing on the switch are exclusives and first party games. Third party ports you might as well get a PS5 or SX. With that said the switch is fantastic. I love it. I hope the next system can at least do 4k cus man it was hard to get used to the low res graphics of tears of the kingdom after a few months of PS5 gaming but overall, they killed it with the switch. I still like the Wii U and its feature set better and i do miss the dual screens but switch overall is fantastic and its the last console worth still collecting physical games for.

Great your talking about the switch. I love the 8bit-do super famicom to you guys. Best controllers ever made. But the switchs have a great battery life. Had more issues with drift on the ps5 controller than the switch

I’ve had my Switch since 2020 (the triple black edition that has since gone out of production for whatever reason) and I find myself playing it more and more. It was my first console since the GameCube so I’m very old school and I only purchase physical games, which I think will become important later as games go out of print.

I use the hori grips too if im playing in handheld mode and docked I use the 8bitdo pro 2, its almost perfect! I cannot stand personally when the thumb sticks arent level like xbox and the switch pro controller.

IMO the Nintendo Switch is the modern PlayStation 2. It is not a powerfull gaming device but you have a lot of awesome game on it. You've got the exclusivity by Nintendo (and some 3rd party), but also a lot of port from the PS360 era, a few multiconsole release (not the best way but can be a nice version to add) and it is the bastion of indy games (who's the 3rd party for the PS2 to still keep the comparaison). And the hybrid concept is still a strong gimmick to make me like the Switch. I have a Steam Deck that's I love, but the lack of physical release make it more a compagnon device for me, unlike the Switch who can totaly be the main gaming device for some and a great system to buy game from the after market.

Only recently I finally got my kids (and thus myself 😅) a Switch.... I got a non-oled, version 2 for a good deal, 2nd hand, boxed/ as new packed with Mario Kart and a Mario Odyssey protect case. Flipped a rare guitar paddle I found in a thrift store for the exact amount I bought the Switch for....so already it has a special place in my heart 😊 Im new to this system and I find digital is the way to go on this one... So mostly Im really looking for the special bargain games in the E-shop to build up an on-a-budget interesting collection for me and my kids....and theres quite some interesting titles around for real cheap...plus the gold coin trade in system had me buy games even for 75 cents 😅

Joy cons are one of the worst controllers of all time that isn’t a cheap third party controller and yet every switch owner has like 10 of them lol. I love the switch, it has some flaws and I hate how we went from having free online to having to pay for online 2 years after the switch launched with no real improvement with the switch online netcode but besides that the switch is a top 5 console of all time and will probably become the best selling one as well

I've had a Switch for 5 months and the only time it was out of the dock was on the initial setup 😂 I paid for Switch Online just so i could buy the NES/SNES controlers, and the SNES pad is compatible with a TON of indie games. That was the main draw for me...indie games on a card...and Nintendo first party games, of course!

Main reason the Switch is my favorite console of all time; is that I have been able to actively rebuy and collect (mainly digitally) most of my past gen and past reto consoles on it; with a form factor that lets me play anywhere unhindered (with the exception of the NSO games). The fact that they remade past console controllers on the system and that many third party companies have remade controllers as well; makes the Switch feel like I own all those consoles legit as I would not have the money, space or time to hunt down those actual games. If Nintendo is foolish enough not to make the next gen system backwards compatible; this current Switch will Sky Rocket in value in the second hand market. They are in a position to really corner the gaming market in ways that no other company has before; if they continue to offer the means to buy and own games; over the direction the other two companies seem to want to go in; by streaming their games via subscriptions.

I saw the Fixture S1 and thought about getting it's. It's a handheld mode accessory that makes the switch attach to the pro controller. But like you, I almost always play docked, so I didn't pull the trigger on it.

The fixture s1&2 are great choices, but the combination of the switch and pro controller will weigh u down significantly. My hands get really tired holding it. I think that's one accessory people can do without and possibly skip unless the pro controller is the only controller u want to use.

I really think the switch is positioned to be the last console that will be collectible for gamers that want physical media sitting on their shelves. From here on out we are looking at digital only consoles, that is for as long as consoles are still made.

I've always had a Nintendo console, and I think the Switch is probably the best one yet. The OLED is the one to get if you haven't got a Switch yet. Heck, if you're rocking a Lite or 2017 model, the OLED is a phenomenal upgrade. You get better battery life at around double, the OLED panel they use looks fantastic, and that kickstand is a god send. Miles better than that little prop up stand they used in the 2017 and 2019 models. If you have a 2019 model, I would say skip the OLED. It doesn't offer much more. They both have the same battery life, so they're both great for handheld play. While I'm not a huge fan of the new Zelda games with BotW and TotK, Zelda is still a great game series to play on Switch. They remastered my favorite game of all time, Skyward Sword, onto the Switch, and it needed it so bad! Playing the Wii version looks very blurry, even by 2011 standards. I can't forget about Metroid Dread, Persona 5 Royal, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon, just to name some of my favorite games on the platform. I also can't wait for the Super Mario RPG remake coming in November! I'm a huge Paper Mario fan, so I'll give the game that started Mario RPG's a shot!

With me having an IT mind stating 32 or 64 GB of “memory” gets me because I think of it as “storage space” and memory is whatever is used for your graphics “card” or in this case a chip on the motherboard if memory serves me correctly. Still I knew pretty much everything, but you reminded me of the GameCube multi-tap so I will have to get that. I have eyes on the Hori joy-conish controllers, and I’ve even considered getting some sort of grip for my Switch. Yes those joy-con buttons are atrocious on the go, and I love my Super Mario PowerA wireless controller so I’ve used that when the Switch is docked. Funny thing is that you are displaying the same Splatoon 3 Switch that I have. What’s good about mine is that I got it from a pawn shop for a reasonable price. I just bought the box and most of what came with it except for the dock which I’m in need of. Sure the box doesn’t show the same serial number, but I don’t care! Oh and I love playing the NES, SNES and GameBoy on the Switch Online service because of convenience. Sure I may have some of them physically, but it is easier to access. Also I get to learn about other games I’ve never played before and may want to buy it for my collection. Great guide and keep it going guys! 👍

I think there will be a lot in the form of games to collect for the Switch too. I think its twilight years will be similar to those of the NES. It'll have first party content (abet not major first party content) for years after its successor launches. It won't be a full blown shovelware machine like the Wii was post 2011 nor will games dry up on it within a year after the launch of a successor like it did with the N64 and Gamecube.

There is an issue with 3DS and Switch carts with the type of NAND flash used in them has a shorter shelf life compared to the type of ROM used in the old NES, SNES and N64 carts. Cellcade has a KZbin video about it. They should still last a couple of decades but may fail similar to the NAND in the Wii U, but to be honest the switch systems themselves will probably have NAND issues long before your physical games. Hopefully the next gen Nintendo system will be backwards compatible.

The switch has great games, but i think Nintendo will need to improve the hardware of the next console, now we have the Steam Deck which is more powerful. Or the flagship of handheld consoles/pc, the asus rog ally, if you have the money there's an ROG XG mobile 4090 available to plug in, and it will beat many gaming PCs out there, it's expensive, but now there are other high end options in the same market as Nintendo

There's a lot of fantastic third party RPGs on Switch like Live A Live, Octopath traveler, Dragon Quest XI S, the Atelier Ryza games, Shin Megami Tensei III and V, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, Persona 5 Royal, Bug Fables, a ton of final fantasy games, Ys games, etc

I found my wife a used lite for $50 with busted joy cons. I replaced them and can confirm they are the same as normal joy cons. This video will probably push me to get a normal switch to dock with controllers.

Man.. I tried to keep an open mind. But I bought pretty much every Wiiu game, so a big chunk is redundant. I don't care for the subscription model. Even new games like Splatoon 2-3.. the original is basically endless. Pikmin 4 I really want, but I haven't beat 3 yet. The Smash game, I really wanted it for Simon but that's not enough. Odyssey looks kinda neat, but apparently you can't die. What's the point? With the portable aspect, I have a 3DS. So it doesn't do anything new for me personally. I really want to like it, based off the Mega man and Sonic games. I'm sure there are a lot of new unique games but it's not for me, unfortunately. Maybe I will pick up the next Nintendo console. But between the Wii, GameCube, Wiiu, VC and 3DS and DS, which I already have, I can't justify getting one. I'm still working on Phantasy Star 2 and Fire Emblem for God's sake. So I'm good for awhile. Nice video nonetheless.

As an avid physical collector of games I wish I hadn’t gone all physical with my switch. Recently had mine get stolen along with all of my games. If I had bought those digitally I could’ve just bought and signed into a new switch for around $400. Instead I lost $1400 worth of games, console, and accessories.

I actually think the switch has turned out to be my favorite console of all time. Definitely worth every penny i have poured into it and will continue to pour into it. Truly makes me hope Nintendo just keeps flexing on the switch for minimum 3 more years. To show what gaming has truly always been about; great experiences for all ages.

The Switch hardware is so weak, that many people buy the games just so that they can play them on PC using an emulator. The games run better and at higher resolution that way. The Switch was really a swing and a miss from the hardware perspective.
