This is incredible, I've been waiting so long to see a Satellaview unboxing from you. Definitely worth the wait! Keep them coming Bob!

This add on was so freaking cool and ahead of it's time. It was pretty much the founding father of game streaming. I'm so jealous to all of the japanese gamers in the mid to late 90's that got to experience this wonderful world of BS Zelda, digital magazines, free game trials and all. It took a hell of a lot of trial and error to get this to work, you needed a satellite dish atop your house, (Which many people in Japan don't have since it's mostly apartments and dorms due to dense population) a kit from St. Giga to communicate with it, an SFC, the Satellaview, and the BS-X cartridge. But boy was it worth the money and trouble from what i've heard... If only I was rich, living in Japan in the 90's, and growing up on SNES

It's interesting to see an unboxing of something long gone. That piano music is form Super Mario Galaxy. Well done!

Great video, Bob! I always look forward to seeing what you're going to share next. I especially like these types of videos since my collection doesn't feature many items that are CIB. So seeing all the paperwork and manuals is always cool.

This is amazing! I've been waiting for you to unbox the Satellaview for a long time! Famicom Dojo unboxed this item as well, if I'm not mistaken. That said, the packing was a bit different. I loved the use of yellow in this box! The Satellaview is such an interesting product!!!

I love Famicom Dojo! Sean's unboxing video was one of several that I watched in order to do my homework before making this video. Thank you for watching!

One of my favourite logic games of all time comes from the Satellaview! Sutte Hakkun. People should check it out. Very neat video. I know more about the games than about the console itself.

WOW! How did you get that?! I know for a fact it's a rare system peripheral, how much did it cost to get it?
@yauy3 жыл бұрын
I bought it back around 2009. I don't remember exactly how much it was, but I think it was under $300.
@killerkart98182 жыл бұрын
Bro that's dirt cheap compare to how much it is now!!

That imterface cartridge looks almost like an inspiration for the N64 Controller Pak for saving game data, instead of the original purpose of saving a game.
@yauy3 жыл бұрын
I agree!
@collectingonthecheap563533 жыл бұрын
I am just guessing, but I believe that ext port, if made, would have been for a built in memory device, possibly letting one save up to 5 games onto it, possibly allowing one to save from a pak, or a broadcast.
@yauy3 жыл бұрын
I think that's a pretty good guess.
@kainthedragoon80819 ай бұрын
That hole/port was for adding extra ram. The ram upgrade sold rather poorly so the ram carts cost just about as much as the Satellaview.

Why didn't they just interface the satellite connection into the Satellaview cartridge itself?
@Skybolter3 жыл бұрын
I was wondering, despite the Satellaview device service is no longer available, can you still play Super Mario World (Super Famicom version of course) with the satellaview adapter hooked up to the Super Famicom Console anyway ?

Yes, the Super Famicom will work normally when it's connected to the Satellaview.

Can u use the Satellaview with the US version of SNES
@yauy4 ай бұрын
It would require a cartridge adapter and several adapters for connections to the base unit as the US Super NES has a very different footprint than the Super Famicom.

Satellaview sounds like Nintendo's version of The SEGA Channel we had here in US. Most games don't remanber The SEGA Channel died for 3 mian resoans. Resaon 1 16bit systems where on their way out, resaon 2 most Cable TV systems didn't have it and resaon 3 it's cost made it an hard sell form some. Simmer resaons and deals with otter compaies that wound have foursed St.GIGA to redo everything ended the Satellaview srivce in 2000 with St.GIGA coseing thier doors in 2003. Like The SEGA Channel you cound only download the games at set times. This is why those of you who used The SEGA Channel back in the day offen had daleys before the game you wanted to paly was loaded up.

that's just useless hardware, only for collectors. The only interesting thing are the memory cards, some of them could contain unreleased stuff...
