Man I was 12 when i got a Wii a few months after launch. I remember the shortage and people going crazy trying to buy one. I got mine at Toys r Us. rip toys r us.

I got married in 2005. We have photos of me and my wife playing WII sports. We just had our 20th wedding anniversary. Time goes by so fast, especially when you are older. Enjoy life while you can. Back in 2010 I gave my WII to a friend, who still has it and occasionally would play it.

Same here. We loved playing Gamecube and Wii together. But we weren't as lucky. She later married someone else. And since I don't have any photos of us, Im left watching these videos from this era and thinking, 'We were probably doing this or that somewhere while this was being filmed.' You're a blessed guy.

I use to watch these videos like crazy when I was in elementary school, and it was 3 months after I disocvered KZbin that I use to go nuts watching these. Nowadays they're like memories of when I use to watch them. The Wii in my head and heart will be the best but last console I would ever get from Nintendo. This brings back memories. I went to a target for the launch of a Wii. I was living in Wilmington, NC. I was 24 years old and was so excited for the system. I originally was just going to wait to buy it later, but I decided to drive to my local Target at 4am (I hadn't slept yet) and see what the line was like. It was pretty long but I thought, you know what - I'll wait in line. Why not, I'm already here. When they started passing out tickets, I was the second to last person to get one. I was so excited. I also bought Zelda and wanted to buy a second wiimote so I could play wii sports with friends, but they were sold out. I remember I couldn't find a wiimote for a long time. I remember everyone buying Wii Play because it came with a controller. That's the only reason why it sold so well.

Never been to a console launch but one of my best memories growing up was my mom taking me to the pokemon heartgold/soulsilver launch at toys r us. Coolest thing ever and thats when the pokeball accessory came out. I vividly remember how hyped the event was and me playing with 20+ other random kids and getting the event pokemon

And after 5 hours of playing you just tune into X-play and attack of the show while finally eating dinner. But then instead you decide to splurge and go to cici's pizza and then blockbuster after. Driving back home you see people lining up still at circuit city for the wii. I was only 9 when this came out. And my mom waited on line for a psp at a Walmart for me. And I still have it now I waited in line for a ps5 for 8 hours at a mall. Man have times changed

The original Wii console didn't need any "new" or "fixed" versions. Common for the original Wii's to still work to this day. It was a solid small well constructed console for the time with both standard and groundbreaking controls and a massive library. Not like the xbox and ps3 or ps4 which needed "revisions". The original 360's overheated like crazy.

I would also like to point out that regardless of what model you get, the 360 and PS3 consoles each have drawbacks and failure rates attached to them. The worst fault I’ve heard about the Wii is the failure of the disc drive, which is easily replaceable. Still a fairly sturdy console. And Nintendo never removed backwards compatibility for it.
